Changing the bunk end power points

Has anyone with a hybrid changed out the bunk end power points that are to plug in the old fan/light combo units? I don't have any of those for my camper, and just purchased a couple of 8" 12V fans I am going to install to move air into the bunk ends to help our moisture issues, and they both came with regular 12V power connectors.

Trying to decide if I want to make adapters to switch from the existing plugs, or change out the sockets to normal 12V power points.

Anybody played with this?

Just a thought........ most 12 volt things these days take a standard 12 volt socket. If it were me, I would swap out the sockets. You will likely get more mileage from the regular 12 volt ones.

I'm leaning that way. I wonder what others have done. And why Jayco keeps the old plug in there, when there is only one or two different manufacturers making stuff with that plug.

I would tend to go the other way. The plug for the 12V is easy enough to find (a basic 1/4" headphone plug), the wiring you are splicing is exposed, no retrofitting of panels in your TT is required, and the format is safer as little fingers can't poke into the socket and get a shock. I've never liked the car lighter sockets as they are finger magnets. Who uses a car lighter anymore? Time for a change.

Found a 2 pack of the jacks for $7 from Amazon... Ordered those, and will give them a try.

I did the same for a few reasons:
USB Chargers are Cheap. They power my phone and USB Lights.
I can buy a cheap 12v Cig Lighter Fan also.

2 x 1/4" Guitar plugs solder on: http://frys.com/product/1646454
1 x 12v Lighter Splitter: https://www.amazon.com/Electop-Cigar.../dp/B01HEV8LHG (found mine at Walmart for 7 bucks)
Cut the plug off to give me two female's that I could wire into each 1/4" guitar plug.

Then I can use:
12v Oscillating Fan
USB Phone Charger
USB Dimmable Light

Makes perfect use of the plug as it is, I like the 1/4" design because if you jerk it out or roll on the wire, or are not careful, it pulls right out without issue or breaking.

Just meter test it for 12v+, which I remember was CENTER on 1/4" plug.
