Curious Strap Question

[80 Cruiser Rod]

The weather is starting to warm up and I finally had a chance to start loading my camper with all my camping stuff. While I was looking into the outside compartment I noticed a strap that is fastened to one side but looks like it came detached from the other side. Does anyone know what this strap is for and where the other end attaches?

I'm just guessing but it looks like a Rube Goldberg fix by a former owner, probably to suspend items from the top while leaving the floor clear?

I am assuming you bought the TT used? Doesn't look like anything factory installed (job is much too neat for the Jayco assembly line )

I have all sorts of little hacks on my trailer. If I ever sell it the next owner will probably go nuts figuring it all out!

I would have thought it was one of the straps to hold the mattress to the folded tent bed, but it looks like on your model that wouldn't be it...
