Dinette Table Options for 23B

We have a 2004 Jay Feather 23B. The dinette table is in pretty bad shape. It's pretty warped and probably isn't going to last too much longer. I was wondering if anybody has replaced these and if there are any suitable replacement options that won't cost an arm and a leg but would still fit the area. The table that's provided looks pretty specific in terms of size, and I just wonder if anybody has had any luck with something you found or if it's best just to build something?

In my 2000 Kiwi I used 3/4" tongue and grove pine board to replace my table, used old one as pattern and put large cross members under to add strength. looks like some day I will need to do the same for our 2013 x23B as the table is so thin. Eric

Build your own. I made my replacement table out of 3/4" oak veneer plywood with 3/4 x 2 solid oak reinforcements that run the length of the table and are screwed from the top down. I tried to screw them on from underneath but the screws pulled through when weight was applied to the table when in the stowed position. I used flathead screws and the heads show but what the heck it's for camping not fine dining. The corners are rounded as the original but I did not crop the one corner like the original then I used iron-on oak veneer edge banding all the way around. Some stain and 3 coats of satin polyureathane and your good to go. I can post pictures if you're interested.

From what I've seen it looks like Jayco is using a different base than the scissor type base. It seems to be a drop down base, easier to close and lower. We did have a problem with our table where the corner was warped and started to pull apart at the edge. Jayco did replace it and my dealer just swapped table tops. If your not handy with wood-working, like me, another option might be to give Jayco customer service a call and see if they still have the table tops for your X23B.


My gripe is the table is too bulky and cumbersome to put in the stow position, and I'm a pretty big guy!

Does the table top surface still look good? If yes, then maybe some bracing will work.

I'm not impressed with the strength of my 2001 23b dinette table. I haven't done this yet.

My plan is to get some aluminum angle from Home Depot or Lowes to screw and glue it on to the underside to add rigidity. I'll likely use my favorite, Goop glue. Presently the table legs hang down when folded so adding the angle along the leg assemblies shouldn't interfere with storage space when the legs are closed. A couple pieces of aluminum angle will add a bunch of strength without much added weight. It might be best to favor the outside edge so it isn't a knee knocker (leave room for the bed mode support lip).

Angle is pretty strong so don't go bigger than needed. If you use some clamps during installation then the angle supports should take out your warp.

Edit: Cut the exposed ends at an angle and round off with a file. You don't want any sharp corners.

Ours is the same way in our 23B, but i called Jayco and you can get the exact model designed for you camper if you provide them with the SN...

If the steel frame is good, replace the top, either with a Jayco top or make one. If the steel frame is in bad shape I bet a new 2014 table will fit. If you do not turn the dinette into a bed you could use a small folding table. My wife has one about the same size as the Jayco table.

I replaced my table on a 23j. Ordered it from my Jayco dealer, it was under warranty but i saw the invoice and was surprised at how inexpensive it was. I cant remember the exact price but was not expensive in my opinion.

I made my own. Laminate top and I oredered two legs off ebay.. the tube ones that are really strong. turned out great and really sturdy.

Ours started to sag and I made a center support for the "stowed" position out of some 6" PVC and a couple of flanges. When it's just the bride an I it stays home in the garage and we use folding TV tables. If it were to need replacing I would probably make a new top and reuse the legs. Ply would be soooo much lighter.

Mine was sagging in the middle so I turned it upside down in the stowed position and added weight to the top of it. It straighted right out in no time at all. Now I always stowe it with weight on top of it and it stays flat. I believe i used my receiver hith as the weight.
