Dry rotten tires

Has anyone had issues with tires cracking on the x23b? Our camper is 2 years old and seem to have found cracks.....is this s sign of dry rotting? The brand is Power King Tow Max STR

Tow Max tires are problem tires. Time to replace them with Maxxis tires. You're lucky they haven't blown out on the road.

If they're cracking, you need to replace them. Your camper may be 2 years old, but you'll need to check the tire date code to know how old they are. Sun exposure and not using them will age them, too.

Yes, over in the "Tech Talk" section there is a fabulous sticky with a PDI list and some of the follow-up discussions mention checking the manufacture date of the tires during PDI. Some tires have been 2 years old and one should request that such be noted on the final warranty punch list which may be ammunition down the road when such a premature matter occurs as in Meadow11's case.

I can see it now! I will be absolutely despised by the personnel at RV Connection when I get to Middlebury for delivery of my TH because of all that I have learned from this fabulous venue, know whadda mean? "wink"

Oh yes! LOL! I will be so, so prepared it won't even be phunny. I will of course, be very respectful and reasonable however, I will nix the delivery if they blow off what may be a warning or two for their lack of doing or going to do the right thing. I plan on emailing that PDI list to them prior to the DW and I arriving so, there shouldn't be any excuse whatsoever because "due process notification has been performed". I truly hope it doesn't come to that and all will be wonderful within reason but man, I am a bit concerned if you get my drift.

There will be a DOT number on the sidewall. Only one side tho.. Right after the DOT no. is the date code. Should be 4 numbers. First two are weeks and the last two will be the year. Example 1013 Would be the 10th week in 2013

I would change the tires. I blew a tire on a two year old 5W and the tire dealer found a second one that showed signs of separation. I replaced all 4 with LT's and kept the two "good ST tires" with 7/32 tread. I posted them for sale and a buyer came in and found separation inside both tires that was not visible outside. I scraped them. $1500 damage to a two year old trailer + a set of 4 new tires. Save yourself damage and replace them.
