Exterior shower unit

My wife and I just moved up from a popup to a 2012 Jayco Jay Feather Ultralite X23B. However, the exterior shower hose and shower head are missing. I have been checking out prices and availability of these parts. It seems like it is easier to just replace the whole unit. Price wise it is not much more money. Anyone ever replace one of these? I have done much work on my popup, just never replaced a unit like this.

I'd replace just the hose and head. Easier.

We have found the outside shower unit pretty useless as shower units go. So I re-fitted it with a standard hose connection. Now I can hook up a hose to it for a variety of uses, and I can hook a standard hose sprayer nozzle on to it which gives better performance than the shower head ever did.

It's easy to replace. I had replace mine second year we had it because I forgot to winterize the outside shower and it froze and blew the insides.

There are 2 thumb nuts for the outside connections under and behind the bathroom sink. One for cold, one for hot. They aren't too hard to get at. Just be careful not to tighten them too hard or they will crack as they connections are only plastic. It takes maybe all of 15 minutes to do.

You had me scratching my head on this. I thought all units came with a hose/head. So,,,I braved the rain and walked out to the lot, checking our 2 new 2018 X23B units, manufactured 5/17. Both units come with a hose/head. If yours did not come with a hose/head from the factory then I would question the dealership.

Buy the whole unit since it’s cheaper and just use head and hose and you will have a spare shower body if you need it.

If you can buy just the hose, I'd do that and get a higher quality head like an Oxygenics.

I wonder if a Oxygenics head will fit in that little compartment? I have a hard time with the junk white one that came with it. I wrestle with that stupid thing all the time. I don't even use it anymore because we fight all the time!

On our outdoor shower the head is detached from the hose and rests on a pivot arm inside the enclosure and the hose wraps around the faucet handles for a nice easy fit. I just pull out the head, connect it to the hose and good to go. Like others though, I think I've used it maybe 3 times in the last 5 years to wash the dog.

Just take the head off and bring it inside when traveling.

I’m the opposite. I think I’ve used the inside shower twice. I built an outside shower stall at our seasonal site complete with shower curtain, towel rack and soap dish and solar lighting, so the outside shower is the primary one.

I use my outside shower often when returning from the beach. I just bought a popup tent bathroom enclosure so I will be able to shower without my bathing suit from now on!

Do you have pics or this or describe how you built the outdoor stall. This sounds great!

It's basically a 4x4 teak platform with two 6' walls of resin fencing The 3rd side wall is the exterior wall of the RV and the 4th side is open where the curtain hangs. One end of the curtain rod is against the RV wall, the other end against a shower stall fence post. There is a line of 6+' privacy hedges behind me where I took the photo from. I have an Oxygenetics shower head attached with supplied wall holder on the fencing inside the shower. I also have an over the fence towel holder (not in pic) and suction cup soap dish. I have a motion solar light in there as well combined with the light from our power post, we have a nicely lit path to the shower for night time.
This IS our primary shower. The CG has beautiful shower facilities, and of course we have a nice big indoor shower, but this is the shower we prefer to use.
Hopefully, it ok! It's survived 2 New England winters so far! LOL! We open in 2 days, it was fine when i checked it in March.

Some campgrounds have rules that don't permit running soapy gray water onto the ground. Have you had any issues with this?

Take a look at this replacement:

I think I may have linked to this a few days ago from JOF originally, or maybe YouTube suggested this because I read this thread. Anyway, kudos to whoever suggested it. This Relaqua replacement seems maybe a little pricey, but it does appear to be much higher quality than the OEM unit, and will fit behind the panel where an Oxygenics probably won't. You would still need a hose back to the taps if they are still intact.

Thanks !

Thanks for all the advice. I did just replace the hose and shower head. I found it useful after fishing to wash my hands and clean up.
