EyGde RV Surge Protector

I just ordered the EyGde RV Surge Protector, with 6500 Joules. I searched the forum for any personal reviews and comments, but didn't find any. I ask myself why I didn't order a surge protector long before now. Until now I have left our RV vulnerable for potential electrical damage. Does anyone have comments or experience with the EyGde brand?

EyGde RV Surge Protector 30 Amp

Hi Gary_LHC_Arizona,

I am considering purchasing an EyGde RV Surge Protector 30 Amp from Amazon and was curious to hear about your experience with this protector. It's quite a bit less expensive than other brands, and the 6500 Joule protection seems higher than others provide. Have you been happy with the product? Very much appreciate any feedback.

Best Regards,
GipsyLane

There must not be many with experience with this particular brand/ mode. No comments on your or the original post since Sept 2022.

My thought is any surge protector will be better than no surge protector.

Eygde 50A protector

Just purchased a Greyhawk.. the previous owner gave me a 50A Eygde that has a 50A plug and a 30A recepticle. Can I use a 30A to 50A adapter ? Assume I go to a campsite with only 30A recepticles. I would like to use my Eygde but it has a 50A plug. Can I use an adapter between the Eygde and the campground recepticles? I could just plug the MH directly into the campground recepticle but then I have no surge protection.

Other than being a pain to carry and plug in all the adapters, I see no reason not to. Beats buying a 30a new one, which would need an adapter anyhow if you were in a 50a site.

No matter you will still only have access to 30a for the rig.

I have a 50a to 50a Bulldog and often use it with a 30a adapter when 50a is not available. Works fine as long as I know I only have 30a amps of current in the rig and have to practice current management.

The unit you are using will not protect you from campground fluctuations in voltage. I have seen more than once where the incoming voltage went below 105 volts, and once when it went to 140 volts AC. That problem is much more frequent than voltage surges, especially during the summer when many RV's are using their air conditioners. Low input voltage to your air conditioner will soon destroy it, as well as other sensitive electronics.

The best two units on the market today are the Progressive EMS and Hughes Watchdog. They will both shut off power to your RV if the AC input voltage exceeds specifications. Once the voltage has stabilized they will restore the power to the RV.

You get what you pay for. For me the added expense is well worth the money.

X2 on the above post. An EMS unit is well worth the small increase in price over just a surge protector given the added protection it provides.
