Size and age, for the most part. I was never really a big fan of towing a large (to me) camper. I put up with it for 10 years, even though we ran into some tight situations thanks to my lack of planning and reliance on early GPS units. From the day we got it, I was dealing with electrical issues that I ultimately ended up finding was a loose connection at the power converter. I also wasn't a fan of how cramped the camper was, for as big as it is. I had to replace the flooring in the front bedroom that rotted out from leaking window seals when the camper was around 6 years old, so I was kind of soured on the camper. I was waiting for something else to go south with it, as I figured the fridge/ac/etc wouldn't last much longer than 10 years. The most recent issue we had was the clearance pulling out of/backing into the driveway in our new house; the camper would scrape and get hung up on the sidewalk between our driveway the the skirt/street.

This spring, I received an email from the RV dealer we bought the 26BH from, and talked to the DW about looking at a smaller camper. Our oldest would be camping with us less frequently, so I didn't think we would need the size of the 26BH, coupled with our camper being 10 years old, I figured it was time to upgrade.

We initially went to look at an SLX7 174BH, but quickly decided it was too small for DW, our almost-8 year old twins, and myself. It looked good on-line, but real life, was too tight. We ended up strolling around the RV lot, and stumbled onto an X23E that we really liked, but had already been sold. The salesman told us they had another unit at a different location that was the twin to the one we really liked. The X23E is just a few feet shorter when closed up, but it's a completely different world when the dinette slide is out, and the tent ends are set up. The LED lights sip electricity, and all the new appliances work great and are under warranty. On the con side, set up and pack up take a few minutes longer, and I had to dry out the tent ends after our last trip, as it rained all the previous night. The hybrid is a bit heavier, but my truck handles it just fine.

All that being said, we had some great times in the 26BH and I felt a (slight) twinge as we dropped it off in the "trade-in area" then went inside to finish up the purchase of our new camper.

I felt the same twinge when we dropped off our 28BHBE and picked up our MH. I actually took a bunch of pictures and videos as I was cleaning it out getting it ready to go. We had LOTS of GREAT times in that trailer. As exciting as the new MH was, I was still a little sad to see that unit go. We had a VERY good unit with VERY few problems, and had we kept it, I had a plan and a budget to fix the ones we still had...

Anyway, congrats on your new rig, and here's to making even more memories!
