Fresh water or no fresh water???

Just wondering...Should I carry any fresh water in the tank or not??? I do not plan to use because we always use the campgrounds water.

I've always travelled empty but "Fly" makes a good point. My neighbor travels with 10-20% full fresh water because his wife doesn't like public restrooms. The bride and I like to stop every couple of hours or so, she gets a fresh soda at every stop so the next stop is insured.

I only travel with ether a completely full tank or an empty tank. With a partial tank the water sloshes and can cause a sway issues. When I run empty I fill a multi gallon thermos type container with water and store it in the bathroom shower, to wash hands, flush the toilet, and for whatever other needs we have along the way.

I travel with some water (up to 1/2 full). We've had to turtle sometimes and it's nice to have water to shower, wash hands, etc. I've never noticed anything with the shifting weight. It's not very much weight compared to the total weight of the trailer.

You are not going to feel the sloshing water. If you think you are, it's something else. Or you have a towing setup that is so marginal it's unsafe no matter how much water you have.

We travel with around a 1/4 tank of water. Never know when you might break down and need some water to wash up or for the toilet.

I travel with just whatever water I put in to prime the pump...maybe 5 gallons or so. It's enough to flush once or twice or wash your patties.

Always carry 10 or so gal., 1/4 tank of fresh for sinks and toilets on the road. No issues ever with sloshing.

I always like to have some water in the tank in case the water pump gets turned on accidentally. I know they are suppose to survive ok without water but hate to press the issue if I don't have to...

Also some sites have poor water pressure and I use the fresh water tank and pump to resolve that problem. We do alot of camping off the power grid so I like to know if my fresh water system and water pump is working good all the time...

I often use the pump and onboard fresh water supply to flush my black tank if the dump station does not have a proper hose bibb. I hook the shower hose to the tank flusher.

Fresh water or no fresh water???

I always fill the fresh water tank b4 a trip and dump it after. If I'm going to be at the campground more than a weekend, I dump it when I get there and refill it b4 I leave. That way it doesn't get stinky. I do this for a few reasons. To have water for bathroom while on road, to clean with when I get home, and to exercise the water pump regularly to ensure its always working. Like anything, if you never use it, it properly won't work when you need it.

We always fill the tank before we leave the house for our trip to the campsite, water isn't always readily available at Canadian campgrounds at times. We don't drink any water from the tanks and although I'm sure the water at the campgrounds is fine it's nice to know for sure that the water in the tanks is good and what you are used to. I also find the extra tongue weight seems to agree with our hitch set up and the trailer tows better. Hope that helps.

We have never left home without some fresh water. We have a Well, because we live in the country. VERY GOOD WATER. No iron, sulfur etc. We take the fresh water for making coffee, Iced tea etc. But be careful, if you are attached to the city water at a campground already, and turn on the pup, can create too much pressure and blow a pipe fitting, etc.. Even the Dealer told me this. So when I want our water, I disconnect from the campground water long enough to pump a few gallons or so of our water, turn off the pump, and re-connect to campgrounds system. My friend bought a new High Wall, and I had aleady warned him about this, he forgot, and pump[ed from the tank, and blew a pipe, luckily, it wan under his camper or his weekend would have been over.
