Frig on propane

We have always run our Norcold frig on electric. If we dry camp should it automatically switch to propane if I set the mode to LP gas or auto, and have the propane tank open? I tried doing that and F showed on the panel. Don’t know what that means!

Not sure which model you have. I suggest you go online and download a manual if you can't find the one that came with your fridge.

F some models indicates not igniting. Could be dirty tip, bad igniter, bad flame sensor or bad control board.

Pull the outside door off, find the pilot light assembly and clean it carefully, again, youtube search on that.

Make sure you give it plenty of time to clear the propane line of air, takes a while, worse on some.

We always have to clear the propane lines before we light our fridge. We turn on the stove and run it for a few minutes. Doing that seems to draw the propane to the fridge and makes it easier to ignite. Once lit, the auto switching works.

if on auto it electric is the default and if no shore power it goes to propane. You also can set it manual to propane. But my suggestion is read the manual, know your equipment.
