Furnace Heating Capacity

We own a 2014 X23B. We have camped in freezing weather (high 20's) before and stayed comfortable. For the last two nights we found ourselves having to go to the camper in the driveway to watch our favorite TV channel. Something about a dispute between the station and the cable provider.

In any case, the first night it was 13 degrees. Last night it was 8 degrees. I am please to say that we stayed quite comfortable with the furnace running. Now, the bunks were not open so we were only heating the main cabin but I was still impressed that the furnace was able to keep up.

I've actually found that when temperatures are above 20* or so, a decent electric space heater will warm up the camper quite nicely, if the camper is turtled. Of course, our x17z is pretty small.

I have never turned on my heater when the temps are that low. But it is good to know that it holds the heat well. We have camped with the overnight lows in the low 20's, with the bunks down. The electric heater (1500w ceramic) can maintain low 60's inside the HTT. Flip the gas furnace on and it is 70 degrees in a short time.

We have camped in the high teens and the inside was nice and toasty. Never had a problem with the furnace keeping the unit warm.

In our old Starcraft 19CK, we usually used a space heater in cooler weather, and the furnace set to 60 as a back up. We pointed the heater at the air conditioner and turned tha fan on, and it did a great job of distributing the heat.
