Gasket Cleaning

I have this gasket on my camper that I haven't been able to find anything that will clean or remove the dirt that is on it. There are also some other areas where this material is used also. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it?

gypsmjim replied to my question about the same thing. He used Clorox , and then a cleaner called "Boat9". I haven't tried it yet, but maybe it'll help you. If the strips are really bad, replacing them is easy. They're actually screw covers, that go into a track around the doors. It comes in different lengths, depending on how many feet you need.

And the screw covers are really cheap too. Much less work than trying to clean them.

That would be it. I did both the doors on my camper last year but I ordered the 3/4'' size and 25' did both doors. Pull a section out, lay it flat and measure the width.

That's the stuff. It comes in black too. Use a little clear caulking on the ends to keep them from curling.

After I install the new trim screw cover, should I wax it so it doesn't turn black again? Or is this stuff better than what Jayco uses?

More than likely all made by the same manufacturer. All I'd do is give it a swipe with some UV protectant like 303 Protectant. That will help it last a while longer.

Looks like you are well covered.

just an FYI, that is not a gasket. It is just a piece of trim material that covers a whole lot of screws.

This is important to know because all other areas are 1” material but access doors require the 3/4”. Did you have to use a hair drier on the corners to change its memory so it retained its curve?

I just cut a piece out of my access door and flat it measures 1". Be sure to flatten the vinyl trim before you measure it.

No. It has 2 hold down screws, one at the top and one at the bottom. The top one was close enough to the curve at the top of the door to hold it in but if it pops out that is an excellent idea on how to shape it! Thx.
