hail storms and bad weather

Do you pull in the bunk ends during storms? We did on our last trip as we had strong wind, hail, and rain blow through, but now I question if it was needed. Anyone ever had their tent ends damaged by storms?

Last year we survived several severe thunderstorms and wind, but no hail in our hybird. Two years ago in our old pop up we survived thunderstorms, hail, some extremely windy conditions, and tornado warnings at Willow river campground in Hudson WI. Our awning blew down (no damage). Never had any damage or leaks on the tent ends.

Our son's HYBRID (17Z) just sat through the 50/60 mile mph winds in Chicago with the bunks open with no problem.
