Has anyone put a remote camera on the back of their hybrid?

I was thinking about putting a remote camera on the back of the hybrid, mostly for backing up, when I am alone.

Has anyone mounted one? How has it worked?

I have one I can mount to the bumper, I just have to wire it up with some kind of quick disconnect.

Good idea using the license plate light for power. I would like to be able to turn it on and off from in the truck. I'll have to investigate that too.
For now I think I'll use your idea of power from the light.

I've seen wireless one's that people swear by. Seen one that was mounted high and powered by the clearance lights as Seann says. The transmitter was wired internally to the front of the trailer and the TV picked up the signal no problem. Thought about the mod myself, but am too cheap to spend the money

I like the idea of going high up on the trailer wall in the back. This is especially good if you are using the rear camera to detect who is behind you going down the roadways. Having it mounted low like on the bumper etc the cars behind you will flare up your monitor from their car lights at night. Mounted up high on the back of the trailer pretty much eliminates this problem ...

There are many systems available off ebay using multiple cameras. Truckers have been doing this for years. Full system prices are not all that bad now as well.

I will have to see about mounting it up high. I would have to put it above the bed end.
Tomorrow maybe I can experiment.
If I do I will let you all know what I did.

I would be interested in how you mounted your backup camera. I use the IBall wireless camera. I like that I had to drill no holes and I can mount it any where. The down side is the 9v batt only last 4 hours but its completely portable.

I think I am going to mount it on the roof, and point it down. I am in the process of getting some wire to hook up the power connections. Once I figure it out I will try to post some pics. I also might just mount it on the bumper. The only issue there is at night it will be useless if a car comes up behind me on the road.

I mounted on the rear just under the top middle marker light . Used auto trim double sided tape ( a year now have not moved ) drill small hole under the marker light lens then pass wire trough marker light .this way no holes in the wall and a new marker lens put it back like it was never there . I powered the camera from the marker light so when i need cam i turn lights on if its daytime and at night its on .
I used a wireless the receiver is routed in the cabinet of my 23b to the kitchen area . monitor is in the truck velcro on the dash . put away when not towing .
camera was a cheap wireless around $100.00 never has an issue and its night vision as well .

I have one mounted on my TV that I use for backing up and getting ball/hitch aligned. It's set up to display only when the TV tranny is in reverse. The same unit could probably be mounted to the rear of a hybrid and wired to be only on when the TV tranny is in reverse, always on when the TV is on (park, drive or reverse) or on all the time, either powered by the TV or TT battery.

The unit is made by Peak, has a 3.5" display and cost $90 (actually $80 with the $10 rebate).
