Help with Horst Probes!
Has anyone replaced the level probes on their black tank of their X17z with Horst brand probes?
I bought the black tank probes a few weeks back and am just getting around to changing them.
The problem is that I can't seem to get the old probes out!
I started with the common probe (the one closest to the bottom of the tank). I removed the wire and backed the second nut way off but I can't pull the old probe out. It is loose and I have used considerable force but hate to be too rough and mess up the mounting hole. Does anyone know if the old probes are made to come out?
Thanks in advance!
Rick

Can you pop it in and just flush out the tank?

There is also a you tube video showing same thing. Just did it on my two trailers with no problems. Only thing to caution is that the studs are brass and if you have the hooded probes, don't grab the end to line up without first putting on both nuts or you may end up having trouble putting 2nd nut on. Highly recommend these for grey/black. My tank levels are now accurate

I got the Horst probes, but my problem is getting to the under side of the trailer. I have the X23B and the probes are located on the bottom of the tanks. I'm a rather large guy and I can't fit under there to get to them.
Ahh well.... maybe a diet is in order???

If you are parked on a slope maybe putting some levelleers under both sides to raise the RV a few inches might help. Also put the tongue jack down as far as possible to kick the rear end of the RV up and enable sliding under from the back. I did mine on my foolish sloped driveway so no levellers, only down tongue jack, and it was a tight squirm to get under my low Jayco.

Didn't see this originally, but if you search YouTube for Horst Probe, you will see that the most common solution is to drill fresh holes right beside the old probes, install the Horsts in those and swap the wires to the new probes.
You probably have the spun-in fittings for roto-cast tanks that are not meant to be removed.

If your OE sensors are in rubber grommets, this is how I removed ours. I installed the Horst sensors on our gray tank.
