Hitch for x23f
Is anyone pulling an x23f or b without a weight distribution hitch? I used one for my 30 foot TT but it was 7200 full.

Pulled my 2016 X23B last year with just a straight hitch. 500 miles over 4 separate trips. Had a little wiggle with the trailer, nothing serious but a little twitchy. Got an Anderson WD this spring. Longer trip to KY totaling another 500 miles. Huge difference. No wiggle, no twitch.

The X23B requires a 2 5/16 ball, the 23F should be the same.
Personally with an F150, I would strongly recommend a wdh, and absolutely sway control.

What brand do you recommend? I have used Equilizer in the past but my dealer wants $610 for the hitch and install.

I was told my x23f was light and may not need WD but I found a good deal on a Reese WD with a friction sway, the whole set up was $150 from some one on Craig's List that sold his boat. Honestly we have towed 5-6K miles in the last few years and it is totally worth it. I was going to buy the Anderson but found this as too good of price to pass up and was in great shap. The few times I've towed with out hooking up the WD it is not as easy or nice to tow. With the WD the wife will tow behind our 07 Sequoia.

I did end up getting a hitch with my new TT. We are going on our first 3 day trip this weekend. We have had several successful driveway trips this week with the kids.

When I use my Land Rover to pull the 23B, I use a straight hitch as it isn't rated to use a WDH (the receiver is detachable). When we use the Durango, we have to use the WDH. Pulls great with either...

It's light but not that light. It's not about rear squat. It's about steering control. Anything that lifts the front fenders enough to cause even a small loss of steering control needs a WD hitch.

I pull mine with a straight hitch. No issues what so ever. I do plan to add a sway control just to be safe, But I have pulled it a half dozen times without it and had no issues. I just want a sway control in case it's windy or for the interstate when passing semis. I pull with a 2011 Toyota Tundra 4x4.

wdh
We use an equalizer wdh for sway control. Very short hauls we don't use it.
12,500 mile AK trip loved it. Especially out in the flats or when the cross wind is howling down out of the mountains. I would not consider a long trip without one. It's not worth it. When the wind socks on the high bridges show blowing strong cross winds that makes you a believer.

I pull our X23F with a 1500 Silverado. Using an Equalizer E2 600/6000 model. I have made short trips without hooking the bars up. There is a big difference. Everything is better with the bars on, less sway, more planted behind the truck, less bouncing in the truck, etc. The E2 wasn't that expensive and you can install it yourself if you know how to read a tape measure and turn a wrench.
