Hot water tank

Need Help ??????

Getting ready for our first trip out. I was checking out the different features of my (new to me) 2008 23b. when I start the hot water I switch the propane switch and the light stays on and ever goes out and the fire stay lit and keeps making hot water.I turned it off after 20 min. The steps on the lid (of the hot water tank) it says the light should go out in 15 sec. Is this the light on the switch? I have an electric start and a duel heat system(gc6aa 10-e).

Thanks in advance for the help,

Mark

If your indicator panel is like mine the light on the switch for propane hot water stays on when switched on. This is also the case for the water pump switch and the electric hot water switch. On the same panel are holding tank and battery level indicators. If a "fault" light stays on there could be a problem.

One other point, after the hot water reaches the correct temp the burner will automatically turn off. Then it will relight and heat the water as necessary automatically.

That is what I was hoping. Is just seems to be heating and heating. I let it go about 20 min. and it never shut off. if i am correct there is no way to set the temp. of the water, like a home hot water tank. so I can not even lower that.

It can take 20+ minutes to heat my hot water tank with propane.

Most RV water heaters do not have adjustable thermostats. You may be able to add one, if you feel so inclined.

I might not have waited long enough to see. It seemed a long time to heat the water. I will try leaving it on longer.
Thanks
