Last year I picked some at a close out price of less than a dollar a gallon. Anyone know how long the shelf life is? It will likely last me 2-3 years.

How do you get the pink stuff in the black tank flush line. I was just planning to blow mine out with compressed air.
Last year, I just drained all my lines and the WH, then blew them out with air, and added the pink stuff to the P-traps and extra so it gets in the tanks. This year, I'm thinking I might actually use my bypass and winterizing pump kit to get the pink stuff inside all my lines and fittings. I'm thinking it'll take 2 gallons for the whole job, but I'll probably buy 4.

This will be the first time for me to winterize with our 2014 WhiteHawk....when you experienced RVers talk of blowing out the lines.....is that done from the city water connection?...if not, from where?

To blow out lines, you can buy a little connector that goes on the city water IN to which you can plug your compressor....
I've actually never blown air in, I just fill the lines with antifreeze and that's it!

Howie, how about putting the mixer in your fresh water tank? Then you could make trash can punch in your shower stall. :-)

just make sure you dial down the pressure on your compressor to 40Psi or lower

Ok - so I am wondering about what you said about "pulled the screw out where the fresh water hose hook up is". This is my first year winterizing our TT myself. It is a 2013 23B. I have done all the things that others here have said but nothing with the water hose hook up. So does the part where you thread the hose into simply "pull" out to give access to the check valve? If so I'm assuming one needs to have the water pump running or have the system pressurized and then push in the check valve?
I looked at my water hose connection and not sure how to get it off.
Any insight here would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
And for the record I used 3 gallons, run through the system (faucets, outside shower and toilet), poured down traps, shower and toilet.

I just get out the compressor and blow out all my lines and drain the water heater. Then one gallon of antifreeze used in the p-traps and toilet and all done. Come spring, just hook up and go. No lines to flush and/or sanitize. Never had a problem doing it this way, and it does get cold here sometimes.

I use the provided winterizing pick up tube and a small funnel to add a little and then blow it in with my air compressor. If you don't have a hose then find a donar and use the male end and about 2ft. It will not slow in unless you push it due to the backflow valve.
To the OP. 2 gallons is what gets it done under most cases, but if you have a few gallos of FW in your black tank then you should figure a gallon just for that to offset the dilution. It's $3.00 vs a stinky $1000.00++ mess in the spring.
My process is to blow out the lines from the city water connection, drop the low points then add the pink until it just flows from every faucet and toilet. I then follow this up with air again. The later then puts all the AF into the traps and tanks leaving my lines mostly clear. I pour whatever is left in the bucket into traps.
Be sure to drain the FW tank even if you didn't use it!

Aha, I see how it can be done. It was the back flow preventer that had me a bit confused, good idea using a shot of compressed air to get it in there. Thanks!
But then if you're going to blow the AF into the line anyway, why not just use the compressor and blow any remaining water out? Wouldn't that have you covered?

I have an OCD complex... . Figure the gallon is open and I usually have some pre-treat (no water, just odor control) in the tank so more AF is fine. Plus if there is a low spot in the line the only thing in there is AF. It's overkill, but I sleep better.

It's a good policy! And would be a great use for the little bit of AF I inevitably have left in the jug that's no use anywhere else.

Just did my parents trailer for them last weekend - a 26BH. I blew the lines out first from the city water connection using 40psi from the compressor. I then bypassed the water heater and ran 2 gallons through the pump into all of the lines. I used a third gallon to make sure all the P traps had plenty of antifreeze in them as well as the black and grey holding tanks. Make sure you leave a bit of antifreeze in the toilet bowl as well to keep the seal from drying out.

Yes it is. For those of you who live in areas that never freeze this isn't anything you'll get to experience. If you live in a cold climate area and you do not protect your water lines with RV Anti-Freeze, you'll discover broken pipes and perhaps even a destroyed water heater the following Spring. Not a mistake many make twice.

I have an old hose that I cut about 18" off the male end, attach it to the flush connection, pour some anti-freeze in, and I give it a shot of air.

Since the black tank flush line inlet is quite a bit higher than the black tank I wonder if water just drains out of it by gravity. Is it flex hose? If so I might not worry about it.

There is a check valve in the line that opens under certain pressure. Ever notice when you disconnect the hose that the water comes back at you? In order to get the AF in or water out you need to apply pressure to open the inline valve. A ballon pump would work if you don't have a compressor.
