Hybrid roofs

I am looking at used hybrids and hard-side Jaycos. I like the 23B for it's room and floor plan and weight. I noticed that prior to 2013 model year they had flat roofs. The 2013 and up have the magnum truss roof. Can anyone tell me if the flat style is fully walk able, and is is known for having low spots like around A/C unit or any other common issues like leaks to watch for when looking in the used market?

Mine has a little sag in the middle and its never been a problem. At least once a year make sure your 4 A/C bolts are snugged down just a little ( not to tight). When I store it for the winter I tip the front up about 2" and that eliminates any water accumulation. My Hybrid is a 2010 and I chenged the A/C gasket when it was 5 years old.

Yes, the roof is pretty stable but the A/C gasket cannot be mention nearly enough. The one on mine went bad and the roof cost me about $1500 plus several days worth of work to replace. I will be replacing the gasket every 2-3 years no matter the condition. The $14 spent on it is well worth it for peace of mind.

Our 07 Flagstaff had a flat roof and never had a problem with it. Any unit you're interested in take a hard look inside and out.

Scott's right, when I changed mine out at 5 years it was toast and not a rain drop too soon. Before next camping season when I replace it I'm going to wrap the cutout with 6" Eturnabond from the roof to the ceiling that way if it leaks it will just drip on the floor and save the roof. I have a small RV repair business near me that will sell me Eturnabond by the foot. You can see the exposed ceiling.

I have a 2012, and it has the arched magnum truss roof.

When looking at HTT's do look for sag, as water will pool there, and if the AC gasket is loose water could leak past it. When looking at the HTT, just pull the AC filter cover off, usually you will be able to tell if there has been a water leak around the roof gasket.

If you look on the left side you'll see some water marks, you talk about a close call!!!! That's at 5years and always covered when not on the road and I'm on the road 5 months a year

I did the same. Wrapped the entire opening with it so if it does leak it cannot get between the layers of the roof. It'll just come right into the camper itself and I'll be able to see it.

I like that idea.

When we got our 2003 17A, there had been neglect. Damage was done. Roof had a bird bath at AC. Replaced the gasket and applied Lexel to the bottom side to seal it to the roof.

I will tape the perimeter next time around. Have put too much effort into repairs to go through that again. Flip side, I took the camper in on a trade and we valued it at about $2000 against the trade. So, got a fair deal.

Been cleaning my 2015 X23B with Dawn soap. Top and sides. Does a good job cleaning and have not noticed any problems. Question, what is recommended for waxing? Purchased a liquid paste and it left swirls. Had to wash them off. Getting ready to cover the unit, so wanted to get her all cleaned up. Recommendations

I could be wrong but I think you might have slight oxidation and that's the reason for the swirl marks.
