Jammed flexible sewer hose

Even though we are on our 3rd season with our 2016 Jay Feather 7 19 XUD, we are still learning about it. ;D
The latest problem we had is with the flexible sewer drainage hose. Our favorite (if you can call it a favorite) drain hose has very sturdy plastic connectors at both ends that have texture knobs to grab with gloved hands. It will slide into the the square bumper storage area. This time after winter storage, the hose slid to the middle of the bumper and 1 end or the other twisted sideways enough to jam into the middle of the storage area and out of reach. I ended up pushing gently with a long stick slowly from 1 end until the other end jammed again after 6 inches and running to the other end to push back on the tilted end piece until it was straight and returning to the other side and pushing another 6 inches. Took awhile but eventually I was able to grab the end and pull the sewer hose out. (My mistake after that was grabbing the kitchen towel to wipe my dirty hands, but that's another story).
Does anyone have a solution for keeping the sewer hose at 1 end of the storage area?

Make sure it fills the whole tube. I keep 2 collapsed in mine a short one on one end and a longer one on the other side. I have a fitting to connect them together if needed.

On the occasion our gets stuck, I use the awning pull rod, slide it through the middle of the hose, and pull it out. The 4" square bumpers can make them a little sticky.

I really miss the 4 1/4" bumper that was on our '96 Fleetwood!

My hose has caps both ends. I cap the first end to go in, and then slide the rest in until it hits the back end of the case. Continue to push it in which starts collapsing the accordion. Once it is inside the case fully, I cap the sewer end. This seals the pipe and prevents it from accordioning any more. The hose fits perfectly in the casing this way and it is always within perfect reach.

The camco magnetic bumper cap seems like it should be good. It has a hose gripper.

I drilled a hole from the bottom side of the bumper, about an arms length from the end. Installed a long bolt from the outside, and installed a nut on the inside of the bumper. It keeps it from sliding. It was a bit of a challenge to install the bolt, by myself, but I was able to do it. You could do the same thing, but run the bolt all the way through the bumper.

I do two things:

First, I noticed my sewer hose was tough to slide out of the bumper, and after looking, noticed a ton of rust inside bumper, which was causing friction. So I sprayed a whole bunch of silicone spray all around the inside of the bumper, and now the sewer hose slides with ease.

Second, I collapse the sewer hose completely (a 10 ft section) before sliding it in. Makes it less flexible and easier to slide. I also have a second 10 ft. section in the other side of the bumper, in case the first section isn't long enough.

I have no issue getting either section out, I think it was the silicone that was the secret.

Easy fix found…

Same problem with sewer hose getting stuck in square storage aka rear bumper. Read that this is quite common. Researched various alternatives: pvc pipe, tote in storage area, etc.

I’m guessing China didn’t get the measurements quite right when they decided to make a cheap copy and got the connectors sized a bit large.

Finally chose the cheap route and used my grinder and sander to shave off about 1/16” on each of the 4 flat surfaces on each female connector.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
