About to possibly buy one. Any owners out there that have one and want to share reviews?

I do not have the 18D, but I do have a 23B, we absolutely love it. Besides the normal thing of making sure your TV (Tow Vehicle) can handle it fully loaded, I would recommend doing the following. Go to the dealer, ditch the salesman. Sit in the HTT (Hybrid Travel Trailer), and explore all the nooks and crannies, pull all of the cushions back and look everywhere, lay in the beds in different positions. Make sure to lay where the hinge is to ensure the bunks are comfortable, and so forth. Then think about where you will be putting your stuff (cloths, dishes, food, entertainment, lawn chairs, etc). Think about how you will use it, how long you will be out for, and were you think you would go. For example, while returning from a 19 day trip we camped in a Walmart parking lot on night, with the 23B, the three of us can sleep on the dinette and on the J-Sofa, verse opening the bunk ends. This was great on a long road trip where we where trying to get a lot of miles under the belt in a few days.

I purchased a X18D in June of 2012 and we are very happy with our purchase. I have three kids so the extra pop out bed was very much needed. I like the extra room it has over our old pop up. I like that its not too big to haul. I have done a few upgrade/fixes to it and bought some pop up gizmos for the pop up tents. I added a tv mount for outside and a sway bar. If you have any question let me know I would be glad to answer them. If I had it to all over again I would still buy the Jayco X18D.

Thanks......I will be getting their offer tomorrow. The camper will be used mainly for two people but we like the idea of the extra fold out for storage and a place to store stuff at the site. what options are there for bikes? We were told to just put them in the unit and bungee them down.

That's we do with our bikes. Someone here made a bike rack type jig to sit on the trailer floor. I'm going to look into making one myself.

Hey Winger,
Like JAG we have the X23B and we love ours. I really like the short towed length that folds out into a pretty spacious TT. We've chosen the aft bunk as the "Owner's cabin" and when we're solo we use the fore bunk as a place to put things that we may need frequently.
Having the 3rd bunk will be nice when you have extra guests. We thought it over as we were picking our TT and decided 2 bunks was enough.
What will you be towing with? Our original TV was a 2003 Expedition 5.4 which did an adequate job, I've recently sold it and bought an F-350 6.7 in anticipation of a 5th in the near future.

We just put our kids bikes inside the trailer. In the X18 there is a large open area toward the back where we put our kids bikes. We do use the extra bunk as storage when one of our kids sleeps in my parents 5th wheel and it holds a lot of stuff but if it were just me and my wife I would probably not get the extra bunk. The 19 has a nice couch. We needed it so I love the 18 and it has a large floor space to pack stuff since there isn't a couch but on a hot day its better not to have the extra bunk open its just more to cool. We bought the pop up gizmos which keeps it cool even in 100+ degree weather.

The 18D is all about bed space. There is no couch, and no counter space (at all). But the tradeoff is that it is small to tow yet still has 3 queen beds. If you are looking for maximum sleeping area for smallest frame and lightweight, that's the 18D. There is enough floor space in the back that we have a pack-n-play on the floor for the baby, and we can still walk around it to get to the back bunks and open the door for the bathroom. We have slept as many as 9 in it (wife and I, our 5 kids, and 2 foster kids) though right now we are back to just the 7 of us. Queen beds are nice and big, i can fit 3 kids in each one (kids under 60").
For us, we hang out outside almost all the time. Little ones nap inside during the day. Bigger kids can hang out in bunks if it is raining, but for the most part our "living space" is outside, so the camper does what it needs to, which is sleep all of us comfortably and give us access to kitchen and bathroom facilities.
All in all it's a great trailer. I don't know too many 18' trailers you can comfortably sleep a family of 9 in.

And there isn't a good solution for the bikes. Inside is annoying, but it depends on how much other stuff you are hauling. I did it that way until I got the racks for the top of the van. That has its tradeoffs too, but with a full van I need to put some cargo in the trailer and bikes would be in the way.

My dealer will weld a receiver hitch in the back of my x18d. He said he will weld crossbars and a receiver for $400.he said 200 pounds max. No problem for 4 bikes.

If you do, load the bikes on it, have a helper tow the trailer down the road and then you follow in a vehicle behind the trailer to see how much it bounces around. Then you can make an informed decision on whether or not to use it.

Purchased our X18D before Labor day. So far after 2 weekends of camping we really enjoy it!!!!
