Just added Dexter 3inch lift kit to Jayco x17

Well finally had enough of the load levelling hitch (E2 round bar) and other parts of the trailer hitting those insanely high speed bumps parks are putting in these days.

I just installed the Dexter axle lift kit and then re-adjusted the hitch. Now everything clears nicely including the sewer pipe which now makes dumping easier.

If you want to do it to yours, get your axle serial number first from under your trailer and then call into Dexter to ensure it has the proper bracket ordered by Jayco. Then just ordered the lift kit from a local Dexter supplier and in about an hour you'll have a higher trailer!

Think I'd probably want a new entry step too then. The first step up is already pretty tall on our 19H, can't imaging adding 3" more is going to getting up there any easier.

hmmmm, I wasn't aware you could lift a trailer. I've got a 4x4 Ram and the hitch is adjusted down to as low as it will go to get my X23B level and the installer said it could stand to be a little lower to get the trailer level all the way. That would get my trailer tall enough for sure! What does that do to the center of gravity and handling of the trailer though? Every lifted vehicle I've owned has their own handling quirks and it seems like that would make every little sway and such on the camper even worse.

I lifted my 23 B 3 inches and it has all been for the better.

An axle flip is all that is really necessary in probably 90% of the Travel Trailers out there. It is as simple as stated above.

One of the features of the SLX Baja models is the flip axle from the factory. Looking at the specs for our 195RB Baja the overall height of the unit is 7 1/2" taller than the standard model and hitch height is 7 1/8" higher. We are also pulling with a RAM 1500 4x4 and use an Andersen hitch with the standard 4" drop/rise.

Once I got the hitch properly adjusted to account for the auto-leveling air suspension it's towed very nicely. I prefer to have the trailer just slightly nose down which the flip axle allows for without any drop on the hitch - we are just above the middle of the 4" drop/rise. We have not had any issues with sway in close to 8K miles including some very strong cross wind conditions in the south west. It's also very stable when being passed (or passing...) semi's and other large vehicles at freeway speeds.

The pic below gives you an idea of how everything lines up - you can see the coupler height is right at bumper level:

No springs on a x17z... It's a Torflex. Nothing to flip.

For those asking, mines being towed by a Jeep JK Rubicon Unlimited with an E2 Round Bar distribution hitch. The default height of the x17z is pathetically low, just try dumping your tanks at 99% of the campgrounds out there... It's too low and your have to futz around with the pipes. The E2 has really low bars and with a x17z, they hit on pretty much a road pimple lol.

Next will likely be upgrading the tires as those poor little 13" tires look like they can barely handle the trailer. Now there is lots of room for bigger.

This is what I did- 4" also went to 15" wheels that added an additional 1.5".
Best mod we've done so far.

I'll try to get a couple of pics soon. I also lifted mine (19H). Did a 3" and went up in tries for a total of 4.5". Way nicer not worrying about dragging everywhere and now I can actually take it to hunting camp.

Is This torflex axle a Dexter or Lippert? I am getting a hummingbird and want the baja but having a hard time getting the baja in the floor model I want. I am also going to be pulling with a jeep that's lifted
