Keeping cool in a x23b

Any ideas of how to stay cooler in the x23b? Sitting here in 97 plus degree heat in Maryland. Now, we are in the sun with no shade.... I do use the gizmos and have shaded the sides of the ends. I also have the bathroom door shut. Any more ideas out there to stay cooler ? Thanks!

I put it on the floors of the bunk end and cut them to fit the window openings to include the glass and skylight/fans and they really helped with my 21 SSO.

Have you cleaned the AC filters?

I've been in 105 temp with no issues. Bunk ends are warmer than the rest of the unit. But still reasonable.

Easy..... Just stay home when it's that hot!! (Kidding)

We have found closing the curtains on the bunk ends helps a lot with cooling.

I just measured the window openings and went to Home Depot and bought the width/length needed.

I had some thin white table cloth material from an outdoor party store that I used to make the templates. The front and back were the same and the sides were just mirrored so there was only two templates. I cleaned-up the lines and cut them out and then overlaid them on the Reflectix and traced around the outside edges and then cut out the Reflectix.

They slip in between the screen and the tent material and I carried them in between the mattress pads when traveling.

For the windows I traced the outside of the windows with the same table cloth material and then when I was finished I lined them up on the inside of the trailer to get an idea of where to cut the slots for the handles. I use Velcro to tick them to the windows in unobtrusive areas.

Make sure your A/C filters are clean so your A/C is working at maximum efficiency, close your curtains or even better close the bunk end that is facing the sun.

The company you got your pop-up gizmos from also sell the liners. All you have to do is measure and they do the rest...

I can see where this would help in the winter to keep warm air in, but not sure it would work well in the summer where it might trap warm air in?

i have a jayco 2016 north point 12 weeks old. Inside temp will climb to 87 degrees inside the living area when the temp outside reacts 95 or higher. i purchased this at Vogt in haltom city , texas and they tell me this is acceptable. Does anyone else have this problem. i have two units and the bedroom will stay at 74 or better with the door closed.

Reflects sunshine and helps insulate.............traps interior cool air as well...

If you did just one end and touched the wall areas that do not have Gizmo's or this insulation they are a lot warmer.

Keep in mind in my part of the world the temp at 5 am may be 31 degrees............by 2 pm it hits 99.

During camping in hot weather I found if we leave the beds closed up during the daytime heat the RV stays a lot cooler. We would put them down during the cooler evening hour

I did Reflectix. but put it on outside (where I had direct sun) to function more as a radiant barrier (than insulation). I used a small square of the 10lb Velcro stuff on each corner to attach. (For radiant barrier, it needs to be on outside.) If you have power, may want to consider one of those small portable a/c units. I bought one from Home Depot (to augment). It made a HUGE difference on inside temp. Just have to get a little creative on placement.

I think that is a more accurate description of my thoughts...

I just slipped mine between the screen and the tent window cover. With the left-over Reflectix I made a cover for my cooler.........helps!

One other thing, it goes from cold to hot to down-right cold when the sun goes down here in the high country even in mid-July, early August so we try to reflect sun during the day and retain warmth at night.

It doesn't have to be outside. Radiant barriers work on inside of the transmissive material. Case in point, you can install Reflectix inside your attic and block 95% of the radiant heat from the roof.

Charles, I should have said "outside the air conditioned space". You are correct! In most homes, you can have a radiant barrier in your attic to block radiant energy, and turn it into thermal heat inside of the attic space. You want this to happen in a well ventilated, and well insulated attic (so the heat vents out, and does not reach your air conditioned space). In the RV/camper world, "outside the air conditioned space" loosely translates to "outside". And I am not usually "loose" :-). If you put radiant barrier inside your RV or camper, you will block the radiant energy inside your living space and the blocked energy will turn into heat - inside your living space. Far more effective if all of that can happen outside your living space. Cheers!
