Leaving a campground wet

Last year was our first year RV camping and we had 8 trips in our X23b without having to put the bunk ends away in the rain.

Our first trip this year, and it was a steady rain all morning. We put the beds away wet and when we got home and the sun finally came out, I opened them up and let them dry.

There was some water in the front bed and I am wondering if anyone has hints on makin sure no water gets into the unit when having to do this.

When I have had to pack up wet, I put plastic over the bedding/mattress. I also pop up as soon as I get home, even if it is still raining.

When we pack up wet, i take mattress off the bed before folding up. And open up when home.

I've got caught like that a few times as well... What I usually do is pull into a rest stop area down the road abit where the sun is out and open the bunk beds back up again and let them get dried out...

I use Popup Gizmos all the time. When raining they are wet but the canvas is dry - unless it is a driving rain and the screening gets wet. Pull the Gizmos off and immediately fold up the bunk ends.

Where did you get the "popup gizmos"? I use the thick red and silver safety blankets over the top of my ends.

Thanks for the Gizmo link. That is what I do with the Coghlans Thermal blanket (online) and clips from Wal-Mart. I would like to try the gizmo just because it does not require any type of clip to hold it in place and they are made to fit. The ones I have are red and reflective. The reflective goes up in the summer to reflect the heat and down in the winter to retain it. I think I invested around $50 for my set up.The clamps that I have allow them to be tied down but I saw a you tube video and they just clip them to the outside seam. That way you can adjust the preasure on the clamp. I listed the links to both below. So far so good in the heavy rain and wind! However you need two to completely cover the qween end. I think next season I will get the Gizmo's even though they are twice the price....as a gift for myself....

When we packed up our old Kiwi 17a wet, I turned the vinyl part of the mattresses to the bed wall and made sure to not allow the outside of the canvas "roll in". I never really had any significant water anywhere it didn't belong.
