leveling ramps

Hello, we have a jayfeather 19H and wanted to buy some ramps for leveling, we have the BAL chocks and would like to find some good ramps that will fit between the tandem wheels, are there any that are designed for tandem wheels?

Thanks

Mike

They do sell Lego type leveling blocks but I just carry a 2''x6", 3/4"x6 and a 1/2"x6" long boards long enough to fit the tandems. All scrap from projects or construction sites.

Jim beat me to it but like him, I just found some scrap and made my own. You can make the cuts on a 45 degree angle to ease the tires up but they work great. Just stack them where you need them.

I have Lynx Levelers that do a good job. Also bought the caps this year and they do a nice job of finishing the tire ramps.

I carry the Lynx set but use 2x10x24 boards for all leveling.

Another question, seems from other forums I have seen where only one tire is on the ramp, I thought both needed to be elevated the same? Can you level using just one wheel?

I suppose you could. You could also change the passenger side tire on your tow vehicle by jacking up the drivers side wheel up high enough but its probably not the best way.

The folks on the other forums are putting a lot of stress on the tire, axle, frame, suspension, etc. trying to level the trailer with one wheel. The manufacturer put tandem and sometimes triple axles under their trailer for a reason...weight distribution.

Do it right and raise both tires at once. You don't necessarily need a plank that spans both wheels. I use the Lego blocks and stick one between the wheels and one in front or in back. When you back over them both tires will levitate evenly.

I had one. A bit to much work just to level when there's other setup to do.

I thought it was much easier then having to keep backing up and adding /removing boards then driving up checking level and repeating process. plus it stabilizes wheel very well.

After a few outings you'll get to know your trailer better and when you eyeball the site compared to your stick-on levels you'll be able to estimate how many blocks to put under the wheels.

I just use the 2 by 6s. Home Depot even cut them to size for me at no charge. I think I had less than 6 bucks invested. I just throw them in the back of the pickup. No need to bevel them. If I need more than one on a side I just off set them a bit.
