New 17 z

Hav my new 17z in driveway as I picked it up yesterday. Looks great but have to admit felt it with my 2008 Saturn outlook xr w tow package. Didnt go over everything yet but noticed a silly design in my opinion if I'm operating it right: ) is that when your inside the camper n want to come outside the screen door has a white panel that has to be slid over to push the black handle forward to walk outside??? Is this correct? Certainly not a big deal as was entertained by it ! Anyway was exhausted but very excited ,,, Cant wait to get back in it today after work to tinker...

There's a little lever you can get that requires drilling a hole thru the white panel that lets you trip the latch without opening the screen panel. Lots of pics of these in the "mods" section.
Congrats on the new Jayco. The tinkering never stops.

yup that's how it works and it sure seems dumb to me too. planning on doing the mod myself. Keep forgetting to slide that piece back after I close the door.

The drill a hole put a stick through it is an easy mod. I have pictures on my webshots page.

Congrats on the new wheels! We will be heading out in about two hours for our maiden voyage with our new X19........why am I awake at 6 a.m you ask??? I'm already working on a latch mechanism for that little handle when it's just the screen. It is a bit of a PITA with that sliding panel but how else would you open the main door and lock/unlock the dead bolt eh???

I know it takes a little work but try the " magic mesh" screen door, just keep walking. We love ours. Larry

Is this an issue on all Jayco Hybrids? I guess I will see if ours has the same issue tomorrow morning.

It's an issue on all RV's period. I personally like the toilet flush handle mod. I did the 1/4" dowel rod through a rubber grommet and then later saw the toilet handle.
