New 19XUD for ex-Pop-up camper

Hi All,
I'm new to the Jayco forum although I have been camping with Jayco pop-up campers for over 25 years. So glad I found this site!
I just upgraded to a new 2017 19XUD and found that all the bells and whistles on this new model are a bit daunting. I listened intently and took notes when the dealership gave me the demo but they went through everything so quickly that I am sure I missed some things so I'm coming to you seasoned hybrid campers for some info.
I read in the manual that I should "season" the tent. Has anyone done this? If so, what were your results?
I also read I should purchase a surge protector. What kind would you recommend? Does that attach before or after the 50-30amp plug when hooking to 50 amp service? What about 30-30amp or 15-30amp service?
I have many other questions but thought I would start with these first.
Thanks for all you help.

Not sure what they mean by seasoning - do they provide instructions? The bunk ends on both our 19H and 1007 were DuraTek fabric, which is basically a synthetic and require no "seasoning". We have certainly never anything more than an occasional spray of seam sealer over the stitching on ours. Have the new Jay Feather 7's dropped DuraTek?

Yes a surge protector is an excellent idea, although I wouldn't put it under essential. We don't have one, and have had no issues, but I am living on borrowed time I'm sure. Since 15,30,50 amp services all have different plugs, your dogbone adapter will plug in on whichever side of the protector makes sense 50amp before, 15 amp after.

Being a basically lazy person I've never seasoned or sealed. I've been in some pretty nasty rain storms and have never had a leak.

All seasoning is,; is spraying the tent ends with a light mist of water, a couple times, with the tent drying in between, sprays. The purpose is to help swell the stitching, so it does not leak during your first rain storm.

You will want a 30 amp surge protector, or better yet a 30 amp ems. You can get a hardwired version, that you wire in right before your fusebox. Or a portable unit, that you plug between your power cord and the shore power.

I too do not have one, I guess I am living on borrowed time too.
