New X23B mattress question

Hello All,

We are brand new to RV'ing and just purchased a 2019 X23B.

We took it out last weekend and found condensation on the bottom side of the mattress when closing up on Sunday. It was pretty cool one night about 10 celicius or 50 fahrenheit so we ran the heater would that have caused the condensation?

Thanks

Yes, it did. When it's cold outside and warm inside, condensation forms on the warm side. Think about what happens when you have a glass of cold water on a warm day. Most times if you open a window slightly it solves the problem. Some people put something under the mattress to improve air flow underneath. If you search the forums, you'll find multiple discussions about it.

It is fairly normal concern!

There are a few things various people do, Myself, I make sure to always leave the bathroom roof vent open at least an inch. I also keep the bunk side windows cracked open. Bring the zippers up to the high point, and unzip them a few inches. This allows the condensation a place to escape. It will always migrate to the coldest area, which is out the windows. Since doing this I rarely have condensation under the bunk, and if I do, I do not worry about it, I just pull up the mattress and close up the bunks, and it seams to dry all on its own.

Lots of other people have installed Hypervent under the mattress. This is a nonwoven material that allows air to flow under the mattress.

X2 what Jagiven said. When we had our first hybrid, Jayco Kiwi 17a, leaving a flap corner open on the bunk end kept condensation under control. That didn't work with our X20E. I found leaving the small window above the sink fully open does the trick.

We keep each of our three tents back windows open a few inches (about 8 or 10), but still get this condensation on the underside of the mattresses and on the tent base/doors. We try to wipe them down with a towel while we are packing up. Hasn't really caused any problems, but I do keep Damp Rid in the trailer when not in use in hopes of preventing a mold problem.

I tried to do all the little venting tricks but it never seemed to work for me. Bought some hypervent (which was pricey) and that has resolved my problems.
