Newbie has question on bottom bunkend corners on hybrid..please help..

sorry real newbie starting to have buyers remorse before I even purchase...haha.. im purchasing a used 2011 jayco featherlite 17c. when I was looking at it yesterday I noticed that on each corner on the bunk ends it looked like there was split in the stitchin. the skirt goes over this, but all four corners looked like it had this same size slit. you can stick finger inside camper on each corner. is this normal? odd that all four look exactly the same, and are under the skirting. im just trying to make sure nothing wrong as I put my deposit down. this is my first time buying a camper. I had a deal for a brand new PUP but this this nice jayco came up for a tad cheaper(10 grand) then the PUP.. I left her a small deposit but im still banging my head over this. I don't want a camper that's damaged..it looks like mint condition and she took care of it, but you still don't know. I looked it over as much as a beginner can.. im really scared of the horror stories that I read about the bunkends leaking around the seals......thanks

Are you looking next to the hard wall of the HTT and the tent? Or the far outside corners?

If it is near the hard wall and the tent there is a little gap. This is due to the pinch point that would be there if the fabric was there when closing the bunk ends. I just make sure that I pull the canvas down when setting up, to ensure there is no leaking.

Now if you are talking about the outside corners of at the transition between the canvas side wall and canvas end walls, there are some Velcro strips that you can open up, so that you can reach you hand in to help setup or take down the tent wall metal frames.

phew..i guess I feel better.. I thaught these were rips at first... im starting to feel alittle better about this purchase.. I guess I really wont know if I got screwed until I get it home wed and really check it good... could be the best 10 grand spent or my last bad 10 grand spent..LOL

Yes, those slits at the corners are normal. I've never used them for anything, but they are there as designed. Not sure if my hand could fit in there but I guess they could be used to access the inside corners of the bunks

Those slits are normal. Just spent a long, chilly, wet weekend at Ft. Clinch in Florida and we stayed warm and dry. Had to open up everything yesterday in the driveway to dry out the bunk covers and noticed the slits you mentioned. We have had our 2010 x17c for a year now and love it. Best 10k is my vote.

Yes the slits are normal. When you are lowering or raising the bed bow there is a piece of metal at the bottom of the bed bow that would rub on the tenting if the slits were not there. My 2010 does not have the Velcro, but newer trailers do.
