Keep in mind that this picture was around a 2 second exposure time - the tent end lights are not nearly as bright as they appear in the picture and they certainly do not illuminate beyond the ends themselves in "real life".
As an amature night sky photographer, nothing frustrates me more than campers that have light setups to rival a used car lot. Light pollution is a real problem with night cameras as well as one of my camping buddies that has a seriously large and expensive telescope that he brings.
I was able to take some great sky shots on this trip from the same tripod location this picture was taken from, however the next night, a new arrival neighbor had half the road lit from his massive setup. This prompted me to go for a walk and I really notice how many people "overlight" their camp spots.
As for the pink and blue - it just happened to be set up that way - they are RGB and any colour you want can be dialed in - and for what it's worth, the pink end in this picture is my 8 year old son's bunk.

A lot of folks really like to light up the sky around their trailer... Must be "I am afraid to get lost" coming back from the bath house haha... We was at one of our favorite TENT camp grounds OTTER CREEK on the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY and momabear went to the bath room around 2AM one night - when she came out she turned left instead of right I guess and walked the whole camp ground looking for our Tent setup.. Said she passed the bathhouse lights two or three times and finally found the camp site. I was sound asleep of course haha... Things really look different in the dark... This made me instigate a motion detector light at the park table which worked great. Would come on when you got close to the table. The downside of course I got caught a couple of times using my favorite pee tree at night. haha
We just never got into the spirit of things for special lighting around the camp spot.
At LAKEWOOD in Myrtle Beach its the thing to do where all of the RV Trailers are lined up near the main road near the beach... All sorts of special lights and different types of fire pits... Quite a show when walking the beach front at night..
