No Drawers

I'm just settling into my new used camper and I noticed there aren't any drawers only closets. I do have a nice pantry closet and was wondering if anyone installed any shelving that slides on something like rollers in their closets for things like silverware and other kitchen utensils.

Oh yes. One of the few things we didn't like about our X20E was the lack of drawers. As you already noticed there is ample space in the pantry. Trouble is there is nothing ready made that fits well or isn't inconvenient. We tried small storage tubs and other ideas none of which worked well.

I am not a carpenter but I put in my own drawers anyway.

We have an X17Z and the lack of storage is one of the biggest problems. There's enough cabinet space, but no drawers for things like silverware and other small things. I added drawers under the dinette table, and it may be the best addition I've made thus far to my camper.

And that's why I bought a hardly used Hybrid only 21' long because to me the kitchen had to work just like home. My counter space is 7' long now and I removed the oven/stove top and dropped the micro in its place with a cutting board top. To cook with we use 1 or 2 butane burners or use them outside or take 1 to the beach.

Wow! They all look nice. I guess I'm not the only one that likes drawers. I definitely have to do something, I'm not big on tubs.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention what I was going to do originally.

Pull out my oven and just buy the propane cook top that you can buy at most RV Stores and build or buy 2 drawers to give you room for your kitchen utensils.

For us the butane was a better choice.

My apology,
Tunce

We had plenty of drawers in the kitchen area, but I did add a drawer in one of the wardrobes in the Bedroom, along with shelves. I don't need hanging space. Added one drawer in the bottom of DW wardrobe, still left plenty of room for her hanging clothes.

Now I did something similar in my closet, I made the drawer and bought the side rails at Lowe's ( very easy project ). I use it for toothpaste , shaver, shower soap and other guy stuff. You could buy a silverware tray and make the drawer to fit it.

I had stacking plastic drawer units made by Sterlite that I had used in my pop up. I could use them inside or carry them out. My x17Z does not have any drawers so I am using these again for silverware, etc

Looking at that drawer for my 195RB. Can I fit one on each side of the table leg?
Do they have enough capacity for knife fork spoons, etc.
Do they stay in place while traveling?

thanks!

I'm not familiar with the layout of your camper, but they work really well. I have silverware in one drawer, and little things like lighters, remotes, and chargers in the other. They are designed to stay tightly in place while traveling, yet can be pulled all the way out for easy access. Here are links to pictures of mine:

Tunce, we have an SLX212 with a similar kitchen layout. The flip-up tray to the left of your sink is exactly what I need. Did you build that from scratch or use a prefab piece? It looks great! Thanks for any advice!

Looks great, not certain about knee room. I think I will make a cardboard box the same height and width and see if we have legroom. Our 195rb has a fold down leg which might allow us to put the two drawers closer together.
Spring is coming and projects are in our near future!

I bought the wooden shelf from Lowe's and they sell it in different sizes, I think mine was 18"x24" or 18"X 36",made a templet of the counter top edge and made my cut. As you can see I stained it to match the other wood inside. The hinges were purchased on eBay and I'll get the size in a few minutes along with another pic. So you can see the profile.

I put a piece of plywood on the inside of the cabinet for a backer and I bolted the hinges to the cabinet.
Washing dishes is so easy now and everything flows from left to right just like home.

LuckyDuck, my shelf comes out 12 1/2" & is 19 3/8" deep. The shelf bracket is 8"X 8" and I needed to put a shim between shelf and bracket to bring it up to counter top height.
