I understand the temptation to wait, but my concern would be possible damage to the fridge by waiting to have it checked. Is there not another RV repair shop near you that can look at it?

The sad fact is that there is not a reliable RV repair place anywhere within two hours of me. There's a "shop" but everyone who has ever gone there, has to beg to get their rig back and it takes forever, and usually isn't ever really fixed. (Sometimes living in a small town way out in the mountains has its drawbacks).
