I would not worry about the 900 watt rating on the old microwave. The wire feed to my microwave is a 20 amp breaker (12awg wire). I would assume yours is the same. You can verify that by looking at your breaker. It is a dedicated circuit, just for the microwave. On paper (theory) you can pull 2400 watts before the 20 amp breaker will pop. In reality it will be less. If you have a 15 amp breaker, max wattage would be 1800 watts. Stay shy of those numbers so you not pushing your luck with a weak breaker.
Only thing to be aware of, if you new unit consumes more power, you just need to be a little more aware of your overall power consumption if you have a 30 amp shore power cord (assuming you do with an HTT).
I really like the Convection microwave in our house. Parents had one in their old TT, they did not use it much.
