Replace bunk door

Help! Bought a used 2015 x23b and love it but the front door has delamination. Can we still get a replacement?

You'll have to go through a dealer, they would be the only ones JAYCO will sell to.

Would it have to be specifically a Jayco dealer?

Since it is not warranty my guess would be no.

Options:

Depending on how bad the delamination is, perhaps it can be repaired. A mobile RV repair service or independent RV repair shop could examine the door and tell you if it can be fixed.

Aftermarket replacement doors. You might get lucky since many RV parts are "off the shelf" items...not custom to the individual rig. Measure carefully, because shipping on something like this will be expensive, and if you have to return it, it will cost even more for shipping. Be sure to preserve your packaging materials...open carefully so you can re-use if you must return. But your rig is a pretty standard, mainstream product, so chances of a good fit are quite high.

There are RV Salvage yards. They might harvest a good part from a wreck or similar...as is commonly done with auto parts.

There are also companies that make custom doors.

In every case, paint and graphics will be another issue to address. The image of your rig shows a small graphic that you could probably live without, so getting a paint match should be fairly easy...assuming that's important to you.

There are a couple of threads on here for people who have rebuilt theirs. The only thing that is probably hard to replace is the actual metal frame so care would be needed to preserve that, but most other hardware and weatherstripping is available. It will take some skills to do this though!

The actual core of the door is a sandwich of plywood, insulation and plywood with a protective fibreglass on the outside and wallboard (wallpaper) on the inside with a bit of aluminum framing for stability. Most of its strength comes from the glue and the pressure of lamination as the materials themselves are pretty flimsy. If I were rebuilding, I would likely go with thicker plywood and leave out much of the insulation as you won't be able to relaminate in the same way. If you can save the outer layer of the door that would be great but you could probably come up with a durable material that can withstand the weather.

If you or a trusted friend don't have those skills, look around for a trusted shop that can do the work. In our region we have a really good independent RV repair facility that does all kinds of this restoration work. I understand many of the local dealers send them their tough structural stuff (accident repairs, all those 5th wheel cap replacements). Hopefully you have something similar near you.

If you are talking about the fold-out bed platform, there might be some help here.

I'd call RecPro to see if they have a replacement bunk platform.

You might check out a boat repair or fiberglass repair shop. If you’re able to locate a used one within a reasonable distance you could bring it back on the roof of your car or SUV.

2008 Jay Feather Bunk door replacement

I have a 2008 Jay Feather Hybrid and the front bunk door failed. I ordered one from Lippert (Jayco manufacturer) and they said it had to be modified to fit my camper. I got it yesterday and it has another metal frame arond the outside that has an attached hinge at the bottom. I can not figure out how to get the hinge off of the bottom. Has anyone bought one and tried to fit it on an older style hybrid? And if so, how did you do it?

I rebuilt my front door. It's not terrible (not like the floor and ceiling) but if you don't have the means/tools it might be too much.

Biggest thing is to make sure your glue and foam insulation are compatible. If not, the glue can melt the foam. I learned that the hard way.
