Running AC while plugged in at home?

I have a 30amp x17z htt and I am wondering if it is alright to run the AC while being plugged into a regular 120 outlet?
I heard that you can only use AC when plugged in at proper 30amp service.

( not wanting to run anything other that AC and lights while plugged in at home)

You'll be at 15 amps on your house hold outlet, so it just going to trip the breaker if you try. Lights, TV, Refer you should be ok. A/C and microwave, not so much.

Get yourself a heavy (12ga) extension cord. You be ok as long as you only operate the A/C. If you are going to continue to run the A/C at home, you may want to consider installing a 30amp RV outlet. You can get everything you need at Lowes for $100.00 or less. If your still uncomfortable installing it yourself, you can hire an electrician.

You'll likely have a better success rate if you plug into a 20A circuit, and no other major appliances are plugged in from your house.

In most areas its code for newer homes (last 25 years) electrical outlets in a garage to be 20 amp, this is more than enough power to run the A/C. Check your electrical panel and see if you have any breakers marked 20, most will be 15 and a few higher for the range, A/C, well etc.

I have a 20 amp plug outside that I use for a variety of tasks. One of them is to run my Hybrid and keep the battery charged. No problem running the A/C when I need it but I have to be careful on what else is running off it. Do not run it all the time but occasionally just to make sure it is still working.

I haven't tried the AC, but I plug my 17z into a 20 amp outlet and let it run overnight to cool down the fridge and top off the battery charge.

I frequently run a 150' heavy cord to my camper and run the AC off a 20A ground fault protected circuit (for excess company). Once I started using a EMS-PT30C I found the voltage would sometimes drop too low and the EMS item would temporarily shut it down (during the hottest part of the day). Once reasonable cooled it seems to run OK.
