seasoning
Hello, this is my first post here so hopefully it works out. My wife and I bought a new x17z this year. This is our first camper and we are super excited to try it out if the weather ever improves. Just wondering if anybody has any experience seasoning the canvas pop-outs.

I seasoned our '12 X23B. Opened the bunks and sprayed em down. Let dry and repeat. I think that was all there was to it. 2.5 yrs and no probs. enjoy your new HTT. We loved ours but had a hankering for something larger from the beginning.

2010 hybrid and no problems. Hard rain a few days ago on Pismo Beach and dry as a bone.

We did not season ours and first time out we had rain most of the weekend (drip drip drip). After we got back we seasoned both bunks. No problems since. But, being a long time tent camper, I think I will seal (with seam sealer) the bunk ends every other year, just in case.

Seasoned ours when the unit was new in 2010. No leaks so far. The only thing I do is periodically clean the tent ends to remove tree sap, etc.

light spray of water three times, and let it dry in between. We did no season them until after a few trips. It rained every trip the first year and we had no issues.

We had our last Jayco hybrid for 10 years and it never leaked. Our new one is about a year old now and it didn't leak last year. First trip of the season in 2 weeks.
Like others said, just get them nice and wet and let dry a couple of times. Its the seams you are really trying to season. The threading swells up and drys a couple of times and seals out any future water. The vinyl part won't ever leak, its not like the old canvas beds on PUPs, or a canvas tent (which is what we used for many years!).

I'll throw in the commercial for Popup Gizmos now. While they don't really do anything with regards to rain they're a nice addition to a HTT or PUP.

When we looked at our camper at the dealership, the bunkends were open. The sales person told us it was to water proof the canvas so I believe the dealership did that. We have had no issues from day one.
