Seasoning new X17Z canvas

We took our X17Z out for the first time. We read about "seasoning the canvas". Does anyone take the time to do this and how important is it?

I did it on our 23b. I think it was a waste of time. I'd read on here about the seams potentially leaking before it was properly seasoned so I watched them while the bunk ends were being soaked with a garden hose. Not a drop came through anywhere. I did feel better that I did it instead of ignoring it but I really question if it was worth my time.

Yes I did this and my canvas is still watertight after 6 camping seasons. Definitely worth the 10 minutes to spray the canvas and let it dry.

Two hybrids in 13 years purchased new and didn't do this on either one. Never an issue, no leaks.

Seasoning was more of a thing with real canvas (not vinyl covered), things like canvas tents, older pop-ups without the vinyl covering. And it was for more than seams, it was for the canvas as well.
