She's Here - 2014 X23B

Hey all,
Picked up my very first camper (ever) yesterday...a 2014 X23B. We are very excited about it and can't wait to squeeze a weekends in before the weather gets too cold here in the Northeast. I'm still getting up to speed on the unit, so I'll have lots more to report later. My new TV (well, new to me) did a fine job getting it home...the dealer gave me a very nice setup as far as hitch, WDH, sway bar, etc. I need to get a better "block" to put the tongue up on, ASAP...working on that. I don't like the tongue jack to be that far extended. I also did a half decent job backing into the driveway for my first effort...not sure how many neighbors were laughing at me from their windows The DW is a good backup assistant. We set it up in the driveway and ate dinner in it tonight...just to get a feel. Looks like it's a winner. Lots more to report later...here are some initial pics.

Congrats on getting a beautiful RV. As an ex Jay Feather owner, I can tell you that you have a quality unit that will give lots of years of great memories. Your kids are young and will cherish the times spent camping especially when done in comfort.

I also have a short well sloped driveway and can tell you I soldo faced the same concerns about having the tongue jack extended too far. I never died get around to making a crib since the challenge is making the block low enough to allow hitching / unhitching, but the to somehow "rise up" after it is unhitched so that the extension is short. Now I can't even get my new RV on the driveway.

Enjoy! Don't forget to do a camp driveway to get used to your new home before you take her out.

Enjoy.
We tent camped for 15 years with our kids, then 9 years in popup, before buying our 2013 Jayco X17Z.

Ours sites in the street and the tongue is all the way up. Here is a picture of out block. The yellow boards are 6x12” plywood. On top of that is a 2x6(I would make this a 2x8) with a 4x4 screwed to that. Then I have a couple pieces of copper sheeting on top of that. I have it setup for two heights.

Looks like the little ones are raring to go. Time to make a list of all the things you'll need for a finale checklist. I'm sure you'll have a great first trip.

Being that you plan to get in a camping trip before the season ends, I would HIGHLY recommend using your heater in your driveway to burn off the new paint smell. It took me at least a half of day but you need to do this before you use it. Make sure you vent your windows when burning off the smell so your smoke detector doesn't go off! Be sure to ask a lot of questions before taking it out....this site has a lot of great people to answer any and all of your questions.
