Shopping for x20E

Greetings Jayco Members-

This forum sold me on the jayco brand and I’m now in shopping mode.

I’m located in Nor. Cal and have found a 14 x20e listed for 16k on Craigslist. Nada guides doesn’t show the exact model but the M20E is valued at 12k-

First, what is a fair price? I realize the market is hot now due to covid but I also want a good deal if possible, without overpaying.

Second, what should I be looking for in a used x20 to make sure the unit is in good shape? I have only owned a pop up in the past. I’m pretty sure I can spot water damage but are the obvious signs?

The owner of the 2014 I’m looking at has replaced the water heater with an electric unit according to the ad. I’m not thrilled with theater mod because I plan to dry camp with my next unit.

Finally, I will post to the classifieds in search of an x20e.

I don't know why, but NADA appears to replace the first letter of all models with "M-". So my X-19H appears as M- 19H on the site.

Strikes me that the NADA price is about right based on what I paid (C$) for my '11 19H a few years ago, but there are a lot of differences. Not sure that NADA is factoring in the market demand right now, so paying a premium for a really good unit is probably fair IMO.

Update:

The trailer checked out nicely. Needs a good deep cleaning and some roof maintenance but seller and I settled on 12k which I think is fair.

We are really looking forward to making this HTT our own.

We will be calling Jayco this am to order replacement folding mattresses and confirm by vin the roof is EPDM material.

Welcome to JOF and congratulations!

We bought our X20E new and there is very little we don't like about it. One thing it lacks is drawers. Even our old 17' hybrid had a drawer. So I made my own in the pantry. I shared that here:

Unless they are in nasty condition, I’d suggest you keep the old mattresses and double them up with the new ones. You’ll sleep much better. The mattresses Jayco puts in these campers are low density and pretty thin.

You might think about the heated mattress pads for late fall and early spring camping.
