Staying hitched

I haven't picked up my tt yet. Can you drop the hitch end bed with your tv still hooked up? If not, has anyone tried a hitch extender?

The x23b has a hybrid fold out bed on both ends. I am wondering if the front bed would hit the tow vehicle if it was still attached to the trailer.

OK, my bad. I though this was a hitch component question (brain freeze on my part). Perhaps a hybrid owner will chime in.

Depends on the TV and WDH set-up, but I would say in many cases it would, especially with the larger bed.

I know on my brother in-law's '05' 23B I hit my head on his bed when I was installing his electric tongue jack last summer at the campground....., every time I tried to stand up when I was in front of the TT tongue !!

We have the 19H and we can have the front bed out and stay hooked up. We usually only do this if we are only stopping for the night and want to get a real early start without waking the neighbors.

Enjoy your trailer and welcome!

I have a friend who has a Starcraft hybrid and I know they have stayed hitched with the front bed down before.

Come to think of it, don't believe I ever recall a hybrid with a front drop-down "king" bed.

Thanks all for your input. Sounds like it will be close. I guess I'll find out when I get to that point.

Judging from the photo if you have a van then no you probably cannot drop the bed... if you have a NORMAL truck you should be able to...

Same here with the F-150 truck. I can drop the front bunk while hitched up. The problem is finding a site that is over 50' deep to do so.

my X18D will open up with it still hitched up. It's close but it can be easily done.

My 2010 17 c does with only a small amount of space between the bed and tail gate. I do not recomend a hitch extender that would put too much toungh weight farther from the truck.

On my X23J there is plenty of room between my SUV and the bed when tipped down. Did that several times last summer while spending the night en route to our final destination.

Was wondering what brand and tow cap your suv has. We will be pulling a 23j with our pathfinder suv. We have done all our homework and we think we will do alright for a while anyway with antisway, rad cooler and airlifts. But was just wondering how it's working for you?

Towing with a 2005 Ford Explorer, 4.0 V-6, towing package, with a towing capacity of 5400 lbs. The weight of the trailer loaded is slightly more than the capacity of the vehicle, about 5800 lbs. We carry very little cargo in the truck. A new truck with increased towing capacity is on my radar for sometime in the future. We have a 1000 lb Equalizer brand hitch, works very to spread out the toungue weight and reduce trailer sway. I see no need for airlifts. I am amazed on how well this little truck tows the trailer, we break no speed records, espcially going up hills. I just be patient and don't push the truck to hard. Towing into a headwind just pretty much sucks. On long gradual uphills or in losts of small rolling hills, even with a tranny cooler, the tranny will overheat. I have a Scangauge II installed and monitor my tranny and engine temps. Included are pics of the truck and trailer, one is with us still hooked up, dosen't show the space between the truck and front tent well, but there are several inches between.
