Stitching failing on canvas

Has anyone else experienced problem with seams coming apart on the tent ends?
Our 19XUD is only 3 years old, so I was surprised when a gap suddenly appeared in a top seam of the bunk end.
We're on the road, so I haven't been able to do much more than tape over the failed area, for now, but I'm wondering if this is going to be a widespread failure.

One reason for being concerned is that, a couple of months ago, the LED strip, under the awning, simply fell off, one night. That was stitched on, too... the plastic track was sewn to the underside of the awning and all the stitching had broken... not unravelled, each stitch had broken at the top.

I begin to wonder if Jayco econimised on the thread, and it's now rotting, from UV exposure?

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had the same experience.

We just dealt with it on the LED light strip on the awning. The failure was the same as you described. It seems that the thread is just rotting away on the top side.

We purchased the following thread and restitched the area that was failing a few weekends ago. Hopefully, this thread will last a little longer than the factory offering.

If you’re talking about this plastic strip at the ceiling and around both corners then welcome to hybrids. It’s been a common problem going back for at least 11 years so if you do a search you’ll find plenty of info on it.

Doesn't Jayco warranty their canvas bunk ends for 5 years from date of purchase? I know the basic warranty runs out after 2 years. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Don't think that applies anymore since they no longer do the sewing in house, but as you said doesn't hurt to ask.

My LED strip fell off also. Last time we camped noticed upper corners plastic broken and could put my hand through to the outside. Dealer will replace both bunk ends and awning under warranty. Due to Covid everything is on hold.

It’s extremely important that the dealer pre drills the plastic strip before attaching it to the trailer and if they don’t do it it will split again.

Unhappy Same issue with out 2018 hybrid

We had the same issue with the plastic strip - fortunately we were within the warranty period. It was from UV. Not a great design apparently.
