Tent Conditioning

Question. We brought home the X18D today. I've read everything about watering down the tents to water proof them, but these things are vinyl. What am I conditioning? Is it the side panels that need it? I just don't see that this vinyl would need any kind of conditioning to be water "resistant", but this is my first hybrid, so what do I know?

It's the stitching you have to worry about.

First year we had ours it rained every trip. After the 3rd or 4th trip I seasoned the canvas as dirrected. Never have had any issues. The seasoning is to swell the vinyl coated canvas where it was stitched.

Talking

Brought our X23B home, set it up and it rained every day for the next 4 days. Conditioning done, thank you Lord.

Ditto on our 16XRB. Rained three times without "conditioning" and never leaked.
