Tent end upper corners pulling out

Started to wash the tent ends and saw the tent ends pulled away from the camper body. If you look from inside the hybrid where the tent ends are fastened to the camper at the curve( upper left and right side) it's just plastic where it screws together. Well the plastic is split at the curve or shall I say broken and the canvas is pulling away. Will call Jayco on Monday but do any of you have this condition?

From the inside, if you look close you'll see the crack. Don't know how to fix this one because plastic is like welded to the canvas.

My plastic piece has split at the screws and around the inside of the radius. This year when we camped at Ludington SP it rained quite a bit and on the second night I had water dripping from one of the splits near a screw on the straight portion of the strip. Couldn't figure out why as I was using PUG's and they attach to the topside of the rain gutter.

I ended up buying a tube of Geocel Pro-Flex caulk, applying it on the outside all along the rain gutter seam, the screw heads on the rain gutter and all the split areas of the plastic strip on the inside of the TT.

By the way, the plastic strip is sewn to the canvas on mine. I think the only other option is to replace the whole tent assembly.

I was afraid of that(plastic strip sewn in and/or replace the tent assembly! This looks like a big job to do it correctly. I need to give it more thought and do you think Super Glue might work on that plastic?
Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried epoxy when I first noticed the crack in 2013 and then resorted to the Pro-Flex this year. Apply it with a typical caulking gun then dip your finger in a cup of mineral spirits to smooth it out. Keep wetting your finger frequently and you can put a very smooth finish on the caulk.

I've had this happen and I have moved the screw to an alternate location AND I've added a washer if the screw needed to stay in that location.

I'm beginning to wonder how widespread this problem is. That strip of plastic is a real poor design.

Before I bought a Jayco travel trailer I had a trail-lite hybrid. It had the same problem with the tops of the tent fabric. So it is not just a Jayco problem.

Me too, please. I spotted the same problem last month and raised it with my dealer who said that the canvas has to go back to Jayco for repair. My hybrid would be on the injured reserve list for three to four weeks.

I am having the same problem with our new to me 2008 23B. I added a washer to each screw and put G-Flex on the cracks. Check out G-Flex on YouTube. It's good stuff! Hopefully it will last for a while.

Is that the stuff that they sprayed on a screen door then made a rowboat out of it?

No. On YouTube they cut a canoe in half and glue it back together with G-Flex.

I have a 2013 X17Z that I took out this past weekend. I noticed water coming in around the plastic strip that secures the tent to the hard wall, while raining. On closer inspection I noticed that the frame that attaches the tent to the hardball has a dent in it, at the leaking spot. The plactic strip where the screws go through are cracking at the screw heads. I contacted my service dept. at the Jayco dealership and taking it in tomorrow.
