Tire Installation Price
I posted about getting new tires. I contacted my local RV who is 15 minutes away about tire installation. They quoted me ( if I buy the tires) put on rim, mount, balance and install for $175. Is this a good price?
Thanks!

I purchase my tires from Discount Tires, great pricing including installation and lots of locations in many places we travel if I need warranty work.
I would go with a large chain tire shop, Discount, Big O etc just so your closer to a location if tire repair/replacement needed.
Good Luck.

If you have to pay that much for installation I would just purchase at a local tire store and have them install, most big chain shops mount for free and a few bucks to balance.

seems reasonable depending on the tire...
what is the cost of the tire? then what is the cost of mount/balance?

I bought a set of Goodyear Endurance tires from Goodyear dealer. Called around to several GY dealers and found one that 1) gave me the best price and 2) included mounting and balance. Cost for the 4 tires, w/ mount and balance was less than retail price (and not including m/b) from 3 other GY dealers.
Shop around. The dealer I bought my truck at offered to M/B 4 tires for $75 if I couldn't find a better deal.

I think that sounds high. Around here the shops (non RV) tend to charge $15-$25 a tire to mount, balance and install.

Tire price really has nothing to do with the quality tire you are buying. What I would ask is what is the load range the higher the number the better. 123 would be at the top of the scale. We purchased a Hartland Radial ST 235 80 R16 Load range 123 speed rated 87 mph $115 at Discount. Both numbers were better than the Goodyear product, and 30 per tire less. Discount has a tire comparison chart. Have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see ratings ect. Thanks

Discount Tire
Nationwide service - warranty - friendly & a great price - why would anyone go anywhere else? I just wish they had motorhome tires

Never heard of Nationwide service, maybe a local/regional store. I always seem to end up at Discount tire, they usually have the best deals of all the local big box tire stores.

Discount Tire is who he was referring to.
Same as me. I buy all of my tires at Discount Tire. They honor their warranty, free rotation, etc at ANY of their stores. I had a tire with a slow leak and took it in to them. The went over it, fixed and got back on the truck in less than 30min. Bought the tire in NM, dealer who fixed it was in SC.

When your traveling like many of us, it's nice to have a "dealer" in most towns.
