Tire Suprise

Getting the 23b ready to go out. Last trip the right rear went soft on me. I aired it up on site and drove home. Today I pulled it off hoping for a bad valve stem or a leaky bead; nope roofing staple!
The good thing is I found that Jayco put a decent tire on this trailer, a 13" with 1480# rating instead of the usual 1360 that 13"s have.

My tire guy will have one tomorrow.

I just paid for a set of Maxxis M8008's from my local privately owned tire dealer today. Tomorrow I drop the old ones off so they can install them on Thursday. The old ones were manufactured in June of 2005 so I wanted to replace them before any trouble occurred.

Just did the same as few weeks ago on our 2005 27BH. Original tires and still looked pretty good, but I was getting a little bit nervous about the age.

I paid $89 each for them. Load rating is 1480 @ 50psig. No balancing for me...the tire shop owner who happens to own a travel trailer as well says save your $$. He stated that every time you turn a tandem axle trailer the tires skid sideways and you lose your balance quickly due to the uneven wear. Makes sense if you've ever watched someone tear up the gravel backing their trailer into a spot.
