Cool Tow Vehicle milage with the X17A

Greetings All!

We just bought a 2013 X17A last month and took it out to Minnesota last weekend. We pull it with a Dodge Dakota Quad cab 4.7 V-8. Our average gas milage was 10 mpg and the truck ran stellar rpms ran about 2,000 on flat and 3400 on inclines. What do you tow with and from the other forums I've read this is not out of line for GPM. I'm wondering if anyone pulls with a Ford F-150 quad cab V-8 and what your milage is? Normally gas milage on the Dodge is 18-21 with no tow.. Just curious I do like that Ford Quad....

Thanks

I pulled a 34 footer Forest River trailer with a 2012 F150 with the 5.0 V8 and got about 10mpg average. The rig pulled great up hills and on flats. Now I am pulling a 39 foot Jayco trailer with the 2013 F250 diesel and I get a bit better at about 12mpg towing. The F250 gets about 18mpg without towing, the F150 is about 20mpg without the tow weight. That's a 10mpg reduction on the F150 and 6mpg reduction on the F250 but to be fair the F250 is pulling 3,000lbs more weight.

At 4400# pulling our X23B the 03 Expedition 5.4 was getting 9.x mpg. One trip I actually got 10.0 but I think the wind was at my back and it was downhill both ways. My new F 350 6.7 diesel just turned in 13.5 on a 2500 mi round trip to NM which I think is great. A biggie is, "what speed are you pulling?". The expe was pretty content to galoomp along at 65 and while the pickup would like to go 70-75 I've convinced myself that a tad under 65 is just fine.

We average 10-13mpg depending upon winds. Generally drive at 65mph.
TT weights about 3200 lbs when towing.

Just bought a 2013 Touareg TDI and I have the EXP21M @ 4800 lbs.+ and from Bellingham to Astoria my average is 23 mpg. In Bellingham ( small hills) I get 30. I'm sooo happy with this car and wish I bought it sooner. My next stop will be Beverly Beach for another week. Stop after that will be Winchester Bay.

Holy c@&$ that is awesome mileage? I can't get that kind of mileage even without a trailer.
