Wait for 2016 models?

I was in Middlebury last week and mums the word on 16 Hybrid models as far as anything new.

It might be the perfect time to make a great deal on a 2015 sitting on the lot if you find one you like. There will always be new and improved things from year to year.

Agree with this. If I was looking to buy new right now, I would be looking at this route. The dealer I usually go through has already been sending out emails and flyers about huge sales on 2015 inventory.

The 16's should already be available via the online dealers. If you order from them now thats what you'll get because the factory stopped producing the 15's sometime last month. We ordered a White Hawk 4/13 expecting to get a 2013 but the unit delivered that we picked up in Middlebury around the end of May was a 2014. It was the first one the dealer up there had seen.

The local dealers aren't going to show you much about the next year models because they want to clear the ones they have on their lot.

I really think it depends on what is important to you. While I am EXTREMELY unhappy with Jayco's delivery times and lack of any sort of organization; I am also very happy with the changes made for 2016. The exterior, IMO looks much, much better. Some of the interior finishes are nicer and I like the new vinyl flooring a lot more too. But all of those are opinions and are subject to preference.

We are happy with our 2015 and only thing they added or changed that would have been nice for me is the per-wire for the backup camera

Just my personal experience:
Several years ago, we ordered a brand new car. Sat down with the dealer and the options book. Delivery was expected within 3 months. It was almost 6! And the car was tough to get fixed because of the off-standard combinations of options.


Since then, I have always chosen a car that is on the lot (my new Jayco as well). It leaves me in a better position to negotiate price since the dealer is paying interest on the inventory. In 20 years and 8 new cars, I've had only 1 that was troublesome.


So, my opinion, is that one should try and find an RV on a dealer's lot that will fit your needs as it stands. With the possibility of minor changes to make it uniquely yours.


Remember that waiting will be part of the price you pay.
