water pump question?

ok, so this 2004 Jayco 25e camper is new to me however I have had 2 other campers prior. we are going to camp next weekend at a campsite with no water hookup, so I decided to sanitize my holding tank. I filled the tank and turned the pump on and it is running but no water is being pumped. so I switched the valves so I could use a bucket of water like I am winterizing it and still wont suck any water up. I am leaning that the pump is bad, any thing else I can try before I replace it. I did make sure all the connections were tight also. the pump that is in the camper is a shurflo 2088-403-144
thanks
steve

Did you try priming the pump? Pour a little water down into the winterizing siphon hose then turn the pump on and see if it takes it then.

Otherwise, it is possible the pump has sat dry too long and internal seals have dried and shrunk a bit so it cannot get suction.

Did you try opening a faucet with the pump on?

Steve, based on what you have said and the additional comments and replies; you have a bad water pump.
They are not hard to replace, and to say the least, there is an opportunity here for you. 1) if you don't mind spending a little extra you may find a good quality water pump which good flow pressure. 2) as most people know, water pumps can be a little noisy at times, so while you have the old one out, and before you put the new one in, you can add in some sort of cushioning for noise dampening. Just some thoughts

There may be a small filter on the inlet of the pump that needs cleaned.

also check your valves for the correct position. Valve handle inline with pex pipe is open position.
