5'10" here also and I stand on the tongue to reach the latches in the front. I have purchased some of the reflective "space blankets" to try out so I think I am going to start carrying a folding 2 step stool so I can reach to secure them.

We leave the fan on the A/C unit for background noise for just that reason. Works great for that.

I'm 5'8" and have no problem lowering the beds in our 19h. I do have to stretch for the front bed but I can set up the entire camper in about an hour by myself.

No problems with ours so far. Wished I bought one sooner. I sleep better in the hybrid than I ever did in our two previous units.

I'm 5'7" and stand on the tongue and rear bumper to lower the tent ends. I also use either a small heater/fan or the A/C fan to mask noises at night (with two big dogs, we have inside noises as well as outside). I also have ear plugs under my pillow I can put in if required.

I had a Kodiak 181 hybrid that I just traded. The hybrid seemed the best idea for someone who wanted a small camper: no living space taken up by the beds. It did not leak, but I was getting some pin holes in one of the bunk ends. I suppose I could have patched them somehow, but I was worried that it would leak although I never did have any leaks. What I didn't like about it was, unless the bunks were closed, it was not a secure vehicle. I would not leave the dog alone in it as he could very easily go through the screen or someone could open it up and get right in. OR we were camping in Cooks Forest and spotted a bear in the neighborhood. Now that made me nervous!

Good point here. Some campgrounds (ie. in Banff, Canada) will not let you camp unless you are a full hard-wall, due to bears. No canvas allowed.

Something to consider if you're shopping for a trailer.

We have the 23B and it is our first travel trailer. Have been out a total of two weeks now and LOVE it. We had a snowstorm come in two weeks ago when we were camping at 7500 foot elevation, and since we knew it was coming, we folded up the bed ends and used the fold out couch and table bed for the day of the storm. However, I saw that on this post someone mentioned something about waterproofing the bed ends before using...what did you do to waterproof? It seems they should already BE waterproof!

Not waterproofing, because yes they are already water proofed. They may have meant "seasoning". In the old days of canvas tents you had to spray the tenting material with water proofing. Let that dry and then really wet it down to get the both the canvas and the seam threading to swell up and close any remaining holes where water could flow in.

The seasoning for the tenting on modern hybrids is similar. Its only the threading that you need to get conditioned. The process won't do anything for the vinyl.

Mine is a2010 EXP21M and no leaks or problems with the tent ends at all. The hybrid gives us a 20' living room & kitchen + 2 bedrooms and it fits in small spaces around trees and near waterways where the bigger ones can't go. For us this is a great way to travel and feel like we're right outside when were really inside. With the screen ends open there's no need to turn lights on, even to read.

And mine came with (the step) insert for the 4 corners and makes it real easy.

Brilliant. I've never seen that. Where'd you pick those up at?

Thanks for the info on "seasoning" and also to Tunce. So, Tunce, you did nothing to yours, and no leaks? That's a great picture, too!

It came with the TT and their are 4 inserts in the frame to put the step. It's real easy for folding up the ends.

How about a ground level close up picture or two of the step and mounting area?

Sounds like a mod in the making!!

Any chance there is a part number or manufacture plate on these? And do you have on the rear as well?

I'll take a pic. In the AM for ya . What it has is 4 steel channels( 1 in each corner to accept the step). It's 10:00 PM here in Bellingham so with my flash I might get a good shot.
