What should work on battery only

OK I was working on my trailer on Sunday. There is no electricity available at the storage area. So I turned on the propane and hooked up the battery. When inside and the fan was running. The lights in the trailer ceiling lit up. The bathroom light did not. The electrical outlets did not work either. Is this correct or do I have another problem? Of course I was working in the bathroom. Halfway thru the project, my lantern died. So that was it for that day. Now I have to chase down another battery for the battery. Maybe on Tuesday I will get this project down, hopefully. Mike Dickinson

The bathroom light should've worked unless the bulb is bad or there is a master switch turned off. Everything in your camper should work on 12v with the exception of electrical outlets, microwave and TV [unless you have a 12v TV].

Some models have a device that turns 12 volts into 120 volts. Usually that powers the TV and sometimes other outlets. It draws a lot of power out of the battery.

Generally the battery(s) operate - lights, furnace fan, refrigerator controls, awning, tongue jack, slides if equipped, bath exhaust fan and power leveling jacks if equipped.

Any lights not working may be out or on a bad fuse.

It really matters what you have you have for a camper, and if it has been modified from factory. I see you have a 2007 Jay Feather. Knowing the model could be helpful.

If it is all OEM. Ceiling lights, bathroom exhaust fan, furnace, 12 volt outlet (TV), Frig (propane mode), propane/gas detector. Water heater (if pilot light, or auto ignition when on propane mode), radio, & tank sensors. If you have a hybrid you might have 12 power ports at the bunks. If you have a tongue jack, it works off of 12 volt. That's about it for 12 volt.

Shore power (120V). Roof top AC, Microwave, all wall outlets, and battery charger.

You've gotten the right answers but I'll chime in and say the device that converts 12V DC Battery Power to 120V AC electric is called an "inverter". My motorhome has one, many do, some do not.


It can be retrofitted, if you ever felt the need to run a 120V AC appliance off the battery.

For the bathroom lights remember that there are two switches that control that light. There should be a rocker switch under the edge of the counter in front of the sink and a second switch on the light itself. Make sure both are in the on position. There are two switches for the ceiling fan as well (based on my 2011 19H model, should be very similar).

I have a 2007 19h as well.
None of the 110/120 outlets will work.
Porch light will work.
All cieling lights will as well as fan in bathroom and I believe light over the stove.
The radio should also turn on.
And bunk end outlets (look like headphone jacks) will supply power to the fan/light accessories if you have them.

Is there a DIY way to connect the outlets inside of a 2022 Jayco flight SLX to a battery pack or am I looking at running a whole new wiring system to run outlets?
