Which Barker Tote for 19h?

I'm leaning towards the 32 gallon 4 wheel since our grey tanks are 30 gallon. I'm not planning on using it for black water. Is this a sufficient size? I read Somewhere that our drain point is too low for these totes? Thanks everyone!

I would think the size would have to be larger than your largest tank so that you will not have to worry about overfilling and making a big mess...

Size, it is very personal. I have a 15 gallon blue tote, I have yet to use it. What I like about the small tote is most places I go will allow me to dump the tote into the latrines. If I was to buy a new tote I would look at one of the Thetford smart totes.

A 32 gallon tote is going to weigh a lot when full (32 x 8). I know it is on 4 wheels, however remember that you need to pull it on the grass from the back of your camper to where your TV is to hitch up for a ride to the dump station. Could be tough over rough terrain. Also remember that a 32 gallon tote is going to be large to store when not in use. Not trying to steer you one way or the other, just keeping it real.

I'v been thinking about buying a tote also. The 32 gal grey tank in my TT has come close to filling on a few occasions during weekend trips (probably from my kids playing with the water). I'm not sure how easy 256 lbs of water/waste would be to drag across grass or a gravel pad if you filled a 32 gallon tote. My thought was to buy a 15-20 gal tote to drain off some of the tank, not all of it since you still need 1/3-1/2 a tank to flush the line after dumping the black tank. Clossan1, I don't know the specifics on the height of the 19h waste gate but I see Barker makes a low profile tote in a 15 gal that may work in case a full height tote doesn't.

I use an 18 gallon model and it gets heavy I can't imagine dragging 32 gallons to the trailer hitch. I use it to mostly drain off the grey water tank or I drain some of the black water then drain a little grey. Works good. Makes a racket getting it to the dump station. I saw a mod where someone put on air tires instead of the hard plastic tires.

Our Eagle carries 90 gal. of fresh water and our grey tank is only 40 gal. I was looking at getting the Barker 22 gallon tote to drain off some grey water, possibly making 2 trips to drain completely. I guess it depends on how long you're staying. If it's just a weekend, a smaller tote [quantity less than your grey tank] would be easier to handle and you would want to make sure your grey tank is at least 2/3 full before heading to the dump station. I'm thinking you could tell by weight to make sure you don't overfill it. I think some have gauges on them as well.

Go with the 32 gallon minimum.. if you find you cannot pull it out to where you can hook it to the truck then use a tow rope to CAREFULLY pull it out.. I use mine for black and gray...

I have the 27 gallon from thetford, yes it is heavy going across grass and gravel, but normally I make two trips, 1/2 to 3/4 full each time and it is easier on me and the tank. We don't use it for the black tank, only grey. But we are going to start staying longer so we may have to do the black tank also.

I just bought the 35 gal Tetford. Plan to store it in the back of the Pick-up while traveling. With 65 gal. grey cap. and 32.5 of black, I figured bigger was better. Didn't really think about pulling it across grass & gravel. On the other hand, nothing says I have to fill it.

I leave our 32 gal barker tote in the back of the truck and use a portable 12V flojet macerator pump with a 3/4 inch garden hose to empty our grey tank to the tote. Drive to dump station and dump from the back of the truck. Quick and easy.

I just bought the 32 gallon Barker. My goodness it's humongous!! Maybe I should have purchased the 28 gallon? Now I need to figure out where I'm going to carry this behemoth. Ideally I would like to store on my TT's bumper but seems complicated! I guess back of the pick up will have to do!!

That's why I got the 18 gallon. It's a few more trips to the dump station, but I can always use the exercise.

If you do carry it in the bed of your truck, make sure you secure it. Empty, they are quite light as you may have noticed, and air turbulence passing over/through the bed can 'levitate' it right out of the bed. I have a 15 or 18 gal Barker and had it in the bed on the return trip from an SP pulling the fifth wheel we had at the time. Had the tote if front of the hitch when we left, about 10 miles down the road (traveling 55) it managed to relocate itself under the fifth wheel overhang somehow when I saw it literally floating in space in the bed!

So in keeping with this thread, I have a dilemma about which size to buy. We have the Jayfeather 17EXP, and I'm currently looking at the 42 Gallon model, but since we do most of our camping at Ontario Provincial Parks, where the roads to the campsites aren't paved, I don't know that I'll be able to tow this thing to the dump station, but if it's full it'll be too heavy to lift into the back of the Pilot, so do I get a smaller one which I can lift or get the big one and hope I can tow it?

Do you have any particular method for telling when it's full? I'm guessing your water tanks are larger than 18 gallons, so how do you gauge it?

I'm only using my tote for the gray water. Our tanks are 28 gallon so I went with the 32 gallon. Now I need to find a mod for my bumper or purchase some type of holder for it. I don't want to carry in the bed of my truck but might have to.

Tanks - Grey Water Capacity 31 gals
Black Water Capacity 23 gals
Here is what I do. I check the levels on the sensor, knowing that aren't 100 percent accurate. When I think they are getting close to 2/3, I dump some black, then dump some grey until the portable tank fills up. Check the sensors - and probably repeat the process. It's a little work, but the portable tank is very manageable at that size. Water is very heavy, so I prefer to take more trips if need be. A 32 Gal port tank is just too big for me to store with all the other things I have to bring along, and for me too expensive to purchase.
